Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone else "eat" their feelings ?

I have come to the conclusion that I have changed the way I express my feelings. I used to be a huge cryer, I'd bawl and scream and cary on and on but now with a family I dont have time or the place to do that. Well after gaining almost 20 lbs in 8 months (after losing the baby weight) I have found out that I am now an emotional eater :( Yes this has been a rough year.....

If you do this - what are some things that can help me stop ? I seem to be constantly eating and my small body frame is showing it BAD !!!

  • I'm not really an emotional eater. But I'm a "Grazer" I found I eat ALL day. So what I do is I chew gum between means. Sugar free. I am constantly chewing gum. At work people call me Varuca Salt. It has really helped though.

    Good luck

  • Are u watching MTV true life right now bc thats the topic. I am completely an emotional eater. I know all the right things to do but have sucked at it recently. Avoiding the kitchen at night, chewing gum, talking on the phone, eating healthy snacks, flossing and brushing my teeth really well after my last meal.
  • I am a true emotional eater...I fully recognize my issue and can actually "catch" myself in the middle of an emotional pigout.  My key is journaling.  Every time I find myself upset/depressed/resentful/whatever, I reach for my journal and write out what's bothering me.  At first it was EVERYTHING!  Messy house, loud kids, laundry undone.  After a period of time (6-8 weeks) I started seeing patterns: dh not spending time with me, stress from work, money issues...you know, keying in on what was really setting me off.  It has helped a ton to see the real issues (which I now work on) and it has curbed a lot of my overeating.  I've actually lost 12 pounds since September!  I certainly have my backslides but my awareness is so much greater and I'm able to talk myself down from the junk food crazies.  Pizza  Good luck!!
