diva cup for postpartum??

I hadn't thought of this. I'm a diva user and am looking around trying to decide what I"m going to do when the baby's born. Is diva an option or do I have to use some sort of pad? I know that they don't recommend tampons. I'm cool with that, but I'm not totally sure why. Maybe you can shed some light on this for me? thanks

Re: diva cup for postpartum??

  • I dont think a Diva Cup would be an option for PP. You're right they dont recommend tampons and though it is an EF alternative that would probably include anything that you must insert. I also doubt that your Diva Cup would fit correctly pp. I would imagine that your girly bits would take quite awhile to get back to their normal size and shape after that kind of um, trauma. Stick out tongue

I bought a cloth pad package from Treehugger on Hyenacart. They were all minky so they dont stain and I got four different absorbency levels. I highly recommend them if you go that route. I also bought some seventh generation sposie pads to use when I went out. Those worked great too.

Oh yeah. Didn't think about it not "fitting" right. Oy. The realities of childbirth.

Thanks for the HC rec. I'll have to check them out. I have some cloth but it's not going to handle postpartum well. Thanks!

  • Diva's are a no go PP. You have to use pads. I hear cloth pads are so freaking comfortable so I'd go for some of those. I keep meaning to pick up some pads and a Diva for my first PP period but she has yet to make her appearance.
  • no tampons or menstrual cups of any kind. Basically due to risks of infection. Also, with the clots, I'm not sure how well it would work.

I tried some mamacloth for the few periods between my m/c and BFP, and LOVED it. I am planning to use disposables (Natura or 7th Gen) the first few days, then cloth after that. I get horrible reactions from Always pads, so I had to find an alternative.

eee gads!! WTF is wrong with me? This isn't my first kid! How could I forget stitches and how tender they are? Yeah....  the thought of that now is making me a bit nauseous. I'm disappointed in myself.

This whole birth thing is starting to freak me out. WTF? I need to get with it!
