I have been beyond itchy since the cold weather rolled in. I woke up from a nap earlier and my right hand is so itchy all over I want to just rip the skin off of it. I did laundry today and noticed a few splotches of blood in the ankle area of one of the legs, and looked down to find a matching scab. It gets especially bad at night. I have changed hand soap to a moisturizing one with shea butter, I am using Aveeno body wash for sensitive skin with oatmeal in it, I have been lotioning up non stop... and I am about to finish off a tube of anti-itch cream.
Thinking I may just need to pay a visit to the dermatologist... UGH!

(I don't know why it is categorized under "Facial Serums" but it is most definitely my go-to product for super dry skin on my hands, elbows, ankles, etc. It's not cheap ($25) but it's super-high quality, and you only need to use a tiny bit at a time.

I agree with Ardvark- the thicker the lotion, the better. My dermatologist recommended Aquaphor. I really like Lay it on Thick from Bath and Body Works.

Have you tried putting on a thick layer of lotion then throwing on a clean pair of socks? I do this before bed when my skin is really dry (I have gloves for my hands too) and it really helps. Plus, having socks on while you sleep might prevent you from scratching during the night.
I also use neosporin on small super-dry patches durng the day.
I really like using natural oils. I have a couple that I go to - Avocado Oil for my whole body and then a blend of 7 oils for my face. I know it sounds nasty to put oil on, especially the face, but I've been receiving the best compliments on my skin lately!
