I just got on here for the first time since last week and....
STILL NO BABY!!!! ![]()
I tell you, this little guy certainly is comfortable! Unfortunately the inevitable is quickly approaching. I go tomorrow evening for an induction.
I thought he would decide that he wanted to come on his own but it does not seem to be the case.
I head to the Dr. tomorrow for a growth ultrasound and a NST. Then tomorrow evening at 7pm we are scheduled to be at the hospital where they will start me on Cervadil. If that doesn't get things going they will introduce Pitocin in the morning.
I'm am getting really nervous, excited, and anxious now that it's really happening! I just wish he had decided to come on his own but I guess he's quite content where he's at.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!!! I will try my best to post on here as soon as I can! If anyone is interested in knowing sooner, PM and I'll give you my info for Facebook! ![]()
I hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful!!!
Off to get as much stuff done around here as possible...
Re: Hello ladies...
oh, darn!!! T&P for a quick and easy and healthy delivery!
T&Ps! I hope the induction goes well! Jake was a 41 week baby and I had to go through the induction process. It's hard to wait and be so uncomfortable...but there are some advantages to having the baby later!
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but in retrospect, I really wished I had understood more about the c-section process before I went through one. I never thought I would have trouble (my hips are very wideset, LOL!) It might be good to talk to the doctor about the decision to do one before you get in the middle of laboring (make sure he/she understands your preferences). Just my hindsight is 20/20 advice :-)
If it make you feel any better, I went from 0-6cm within 2 hours of starting Cervadil.
ITA with Andrea. I really wish I'd had a plan in place in case of a c/s. I would definitely recommend going over things with your doc so you'll know what to expect if it comes to that.
I think this is what I am most nervous about. I guess up to this point I didn't consider that it could be a possibility but the past week has really put everything in perspective. Any recommendations/thoughts/comments on C-sections? I would love to receive some advice!
Eek! I was thinking about you all weekend!!
YGPM!
I was induced since my water broke. I had 12 hours of labor--I couldn't get past 9.5 for a long time. Then I pushed 2 hours and she wouldn't budge. I had a c-section, and had no problems with it. Just keep in mind that your beautiful baby will be in your arms soon, and it doesn't matter how he gets here.
Definitely eat something before you go--they won't let you have anything besides ice chips and maybe popsicles. I ended up puking up lime green bile during my c-section since it had been so long since I had eaten. Todd said he felt like he was in the exorcist!
Well, I think I would have discussed with my OB his criteria for recommending one and told him how much I really wanted to have a vag birth. I had labored for 20 hours at the point that I decided to have one and was tired and in pain and maybe should have tried one more time to push before going the c-section route (Jake was not budging even though I was fully dialated). I think I am pretty rare though. Most people that get to that point *have* to have one because the baby's health is at risk or because the induction isn't going anywhere.
The other thing was I didn't really understand what c-section recovery entailed. It just would have been good to know what to expect. I don't want to tell you what my recovery was like because I don't know if it was normal, so I think I would say maybe just read up on the internet or in your childbirth prep books.
I have to tell you that when both of my children were delivered, it was the *most* amazing event in my life and even though what you experience to get that point may be difficult, it will be worth it. While you are in labor, just keep reminding yourself "it's just one day, I can make it through one day" T&Ps!!!
Aw man
As another encouraging story, I had cervidil at 2pm and a newborn on my chest from a vaginal delivery at 10:40pm, so it's totally possible your body just needs a kick.
What hospital will you be at (or tell me to buzz off if that's creepy, I'm just curious 'cause of the Chicago connection)?
For what to think about with the c-section preferences, consider how you want things to go before, during and after (within hospital limits, obviously). So who do you want in there with you? How do you feel about having your arms restrained? What sort of drugs do you want? Do you want baby on you while they get you stitched up? Should your partner stay with you in recovery or go with baby if you need to be separated? That sort of thing...
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't need the answers to any of those questions!
Mother's Day, 2011
Good luck to you and at long last you'll be meeting your little guy in a few days
I had a successful induction and vaginal birth, but I was exhausted. Had my doctor mentioned a c-section toward the end, I might have given in just because I was so tired at that point.
I will be at NW Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. They are affiliated with Children's Memorial.
You also raise a few great questions, arms restrained? Honestly, I didn't even know about that! Thank goodness you brought that up. I'm making my list of ?'s for the doctor.
Gosh, I really hope it doesn't come down to that....
I responded to your PM!
Awww, well you still have now until tomorrow night. You never know,he may still decide to come. I wish you best of luck with everything tomorrow. And thoughts and prayers your way.

I'll give you some more hope: My induction with DD was successful. (and no c-section.) I went in at 7am and she was born at 2pm with only 10 minutes or less of pushing.
And DS came on his own but I went from 0cm to pushing in just a few hours! (so there is hope still for you!)
Good luck! I'll be thinking of you.
Same here for the most part. Got induced at 39weeks 2 days ..checked into the hosptial at 6am and started pitocin at 7am and Clark arrived at 2:07pm! But I was also already 1-2cm dilated and 80-90% effaced (depends on the doctor). I hope it goes well for you...and if it makes you feel any better I really didnt even have the csection option in my mind going into the induction. I knew the labor could be long and there could be a csection but once hooked up and in the room it really didnt even cross my mind - naive probably but sometimes you just need positive thinking. Sorry...that was a ton of rambling - good luck!
