I was told a week ago that my first IVF cycle was not a success.  I have an appointment with my RE on the 19th of January.  How long did you wait after a failed IVF cycle to begin a second round of IVF or FET? 

I was told to start BCP tonight, but I'm not sure if I shoud wait after the follow-up appointment with RE.

    I took a 2 month break in between IVF #1 and IVF #2.  IVF #2 was a success.

    I'm sorry for your BFN. I can speak only for a failed FET. We tried with my immediate next period. We just had to wait for it to start and that began the next cycle. However, it was up to me. It was MY call if I wanted to wait that cycle out or go for it. We did, and that was DS#2.

    We had to wait over a year between IVF's because Dh lost his job, then when he found one, had to take a huge paycut. 

    IVF#2 Resulted in a chemical pregnancy. We were able to start our FET cycle after I had AF after the c/p. We kept having to start the cycle over but it ended up working out in the end.

    When my first IVF did not work, I waited to get AF and started BCP immediately.  IVF #2 was a success.  Hope the same for you!

    Sorry that you got a BFN.

    I waited 3 months b/t #1 and #2 (I had surgery to remove a fibroid in between though)

    I waited 4 months b/t #2 and #3 (switched REs too).

    I needed the mental break between them, but plenty of ladies begin cycling right away.  It can't hurt to start the BCP now, and then just wait if you feel like you are not ready after your meeting with the RE.  Good luck!

    I was able to start bcps once I got my period after my BFN.

    My RE said I didn't need to take a break.

    My RE asked us to sit out on full cycle before we started our FET cycle.

    I had a couple of failed IUIs, IVF#1 and a FET all back to back.   After my first FET (from IVF#1), I took like a 6 or 8 month mental health break.  I needed it.  I was pretty beat up and broken down from all my BFNs.

    My LO is from IVF#2.

    Any time I had a failed or canceled cycle, my RE made me wait one whole cycle before I could start bcp again.  Not all REs require that, though.

    So sorry about your BFN.  We had to wait one full cycle in between # 1 and # 2 and then had a down-cycle of BCP's before starting # 3, GL to you.

    I found out the week after Christmas (2007) that our first IVF failed.  I took one month off and then started the process for a FET, which happened in March.  After that didn't work, we had a second IVF in the summer before moving to DE's.

     I got my period on Monday, I started stimming on Thursday. 

    NO break at all and I am SO GLAD we did it this way, as we got Ethan. My RE believed in a peak to peak concept, as in, my ovaries were primed and ready and they really came through.
