Re: Awful break outs

  • What's your skin type? Oily? Dry? Combo? Sensitive? Unfortunately, skin care is really individual and sometimes you have to experiment to find what works for you. Right now I use a benzoyl peroxide cream, but as the weather gets colder and dryer I'll switch over to a glycolic acid cream. It's best to start with very bland products and make changes over several weeks.

  • I'm having the same problem and I only figured out the other day that my breakouts were because I just went off BC a few months ago. It was a face palm moment.

  • Proactive worked for me. If I had a breakout I would really get after it with the scrub on just that one spot instead of my entire face since I have dry skin.

Acne can be so individual. Make sure you change your pillow cases often and try not to touch it. Good luck

  • As Sulfa said, it depends on your skin type. Google tea tree oil for acne. I haven't used it, but some bumpies recommended it to me. My skin is under control for now, but that is thanks to prescription creams that I had to use.

  • It definitely depends on your skin type. I use clinique products though and they work great. I have the foam acne soap, clarifying lotion (toner), and dramatically different gel lotion. My mom also gave me some stuff from a brand called sensaria (sold by reps) and they work wonders! I LOVE the clay mask. It doesn't make your face too dry and really helps with breakouts

    Yes

It took me a long time to find something that worked with my skin, and once I did, I had to change it all over again because I switched my pill prescription. Then when I went off of BCP I had to start using different products again.

Currently I'm using Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Cleanser & alternate that and the scrub from the same line. I spot treat with a salicylic acid spot treatment and use an oil free moisturizer. Every few days I'll use a salicylic acid treatment pad (both Neutrogena & Clearasil make them, they come in a little jar) or will use it if the problem is too much to spot treat, and I use an extracting mask followed by a biore pore strip twice a week. I don't wear foundation, but if I did on a daily basis I'd break out more.

My skin's far from perfect, but it's in much better condition than it was when I was still trying to find the regimen for me.

  • My breakouts didn't get bad until my miscarriage. My skin has been horrible ever since and it is just now slowly getting better. I use Yonka products because they are all natural ingredients not chemicals. I buy them on ebay so they are a little cheaper than other places.
  • I am in the same boat. I have tried everything - Proactiv, Clinique, and Neutrogena. I am using beauticontrol for combination skin right now. My dr also prescribed me a benzo peroxide cream as well. I have not filled it yet so we will see.

  • Mine have been bad ever since coming off BC as well. I started using cetaphil, as recommended by someone else on the Bump. It doesn't have any real acne fighting ingredients, but it is really gentle and makes my skin super soft. I think it has been helping with the prevention of new breakouts as well. Good luck!

  • After trying everything possible from cheap to very exprensive, even prescription, I chalked it up to hormones and sense there is nothing I could do about that I just cover it up now. On the plus side, I had beautiful skin when I was pregnant Big Smile
