Dying to workout - how do you find the energy & time???

It's driving me crazy!!  I know that I could fit it in if I got up @ 5am, but when DS is up every 2 1/2 hrs to eat I am seriously too tired to drag my booty out of bed.  He also only naps minimally (30 mins or so) during the day in which I use to do housework..  How did you transition to working out again?

Re: Dying to workout - how do you find the energy & time???

  • I have no energy, just drive and determination and I am praying that sticks for awhile. Maybe just take one of those naps as the time to workout instead of doing housework?

  • Drive & determination... exactly!  Just need to suck it up and do it, there will probably never really be a convenient time at least not for awhile.  Will just have to make it happen and hope my body adjusts well to working out again. haha  thanks for the inspiration, it really encourages me that you push thru and make it happen.  :o)

  • I usually workout right after work before I pick LO up from daycare.  Can your husband take care of LO after work for 30-60min while you get a workout in?

  • DS used to take really short naps too.  I would get totally ready for my workout while he was still awake, put him down, and then get on the treadmill ASAP.  I ran as long as I could while he was asleep and then if I wanted to go longer, I'd put him in his bouncy chair for 10-15 minutes more.  He fussed a little, but it was fine.  I think he liked watching me.

As for finding the energy, DS was up every 2-3 hours too, and I was exhausted in the mornings, but I actually found that working out gave me more energy.  I think it's worth it to give up the 30 minutes of housework!

  • Definitely!  Housework can wait, would be nice to take the 30 mins and have some "me" time.  :o)

  • When DD was that young, I would pop in a video and put DD in the swing and she would watch me.  I would talk to her while I was doing it and eventually she started laughing at me.  It was cute.

  • Short naps definitely help...put it on your calendar or planner too, checking it off helps you feel like you've really accomplished something. ?It isn't easy for anyone, but well worth it...set some reasonable goals for the New Year and keep some drive/determination to reach them!

    Good luck!?
