hCG Beta 2,013 on 12/22
hCG Beta 3,850 on 12/24
it's not double, but close. My Dr's office just called me and asked me if I could come down to get one more test today.
What's the "double" rule. Is it that it has to atleast double, or be somewhere around doubling????
With my DS I never had this type of bloodwork done, but I had a miscarriage back in November so I don't know if they're being overly cautious or if I should be concerned. Physically, I feel fine.
Re: Should I be worried, re: beta levels
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
No, you should not be worried at this point. The "doubling rule" is that lower betas should double within a 48-72 hour window.
Rate of increase slows the higher the betas are. At this point, they are looking to see that they continue to go up, and are high enough for an u/s. That's pretty much it.
Which is why beta draws at this point are sort of pointless, if doctors aren't going to explain how they work to their patients. I wish medical professionals wouldn't just tell women these numbers without also explaining what they mean, it's irresponsible and causes a lot of needless anxiety.
I don't think you have anything to worry about;
Within the first 2-4 weeks after fertilization, hCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours
An increase of 60% in 48 hours is still considered normal
Below 1,200 mIU/ml, hCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours
Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double
Above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes over four days to double
