Trying to Get Pregnant

Tricking yourself into believing

My husband and I have been TTC and I am really focused on every little thing that my body does, wondering if it's a sign of early pregnancy. I know I get really focused on every little thing and of course I can explain why I have that particular symptom. So, to balance out the pregnancy symptoms I look up, I've been researching false pregnancy symptoms, too. What I am wondering is, can I trick myself so much into thinking I'm pregnant that I would give myself dark rings around my nipples? Those are 100% positively new on me. I didn't miss a period yet, I'm not due until about January 9th.

Thanks!

  • Jan. 9th is like almost 2 weeks away.   You'd be lucky if you'd even O'd yet.

  • Yes. There have been women who have developed baby bumps (not PG and obviously severe cases)

The mind can play terrible tricks on a woman.

    How do you know?

Let's go with the idea that you did already O....you'd be at most 2-3 DPO which is waaaaay too early for even phantom symptoms.

  • I agree that you may not have even O'd yet.

As for phantom symptoms, they can be anything. I managed to elevate my hormone levels even just by wanting to be pregnant over this summer.

  • I trick myself all the time....even when I know its physically impossible lol. Welcome to the joys of phantom symptoms Wink
  • I've heard of people convincing themselves they are pregnant so much that they actually lactate when they are in fact, not pregnant.

  •  I used the ovulation calculator on this website and it was calculated between Dec. 19-24.  Now, I know that I wouldn't be able to tell like 3 days later. My problem is that I seem to justify everything. For example, well, I could have gotten pregnant earlier in the month because my period was considerably lighter this month....

This is truly awful. I don't know how I'm going to make it if I'm going to make myself crazy about it every month. I know I just need to relax and that's when it happens but - relax? HOW? Tongue Tied

please disregard any on-line ovulation calculators.   Very very inaccurate.    So you don't KNOW if/when you ovulated - therefore you don't know for certain when your AF is due.

  • Oh. Well, if it helps - I have been checking internally. As in my cervix. I read that it's supposed to be the 14th day from the first day of your period if you are on a 28-day cycle, right? Because that's what we've been doing....

The ovulation calculator is useless!  you may want to lurk more....

Short answer?  No.  You can have a 28 day cycle and O on CD 18 or CD 17 or CD 16.  That whole O on CD 14 is not the norm for the vast majority of women.

only if you have a 14 day LP too.    You might have a 16 day LP and O on CD12.   Or you may have a 10 day LP and O on CD18.      From CD12 to CD18 is a range of almost a weeks difference.

Also, on any given month you may O later than normal and have a 30+ day cycle.   Ov. Calculators do not take that into account.

  • Well, that sucks. Thank you all for your information. I thought I researched enough but evidently I missed a good amount. I guess the research shall continue.

  • My nipples didn't darken with DS until I was halfway through 2nd tri.  I think you should stop researching and chill a bit. :)
