  I would imagine with sausage the meat is already seasoned where ground pork would not be seasoned.

  This, you can get ground pork in the store.

  Agree with PP.

  Depending on what you are making you can sometimes subsitute another ground meat. It's all depends on what the dish is though.

  Yeah and if you can't find ground pork in the store you can take a hunk of pork (such as loin) and ask the butcher to grind it for you or give it a whiz in a food processor at home.
