It was hard to resist the alcohol

DH's family had a mimosa and bloody mary bar set up yesterday for the family Christmas.  The Bloody Mary bar had everything you can imagine.  Jalapeno stuffed olives, shrimp, lemon slices, celery salt, tabasco sauce, etc.  I made myself a virgin one and it was oh so yummy.  Everyone keep asking me if I had alcohol in it.

At my parents house they had Tom & Jerry's drinks.  It's a type of egg nog.  They told me I could have a non-alcoholic one, but I was wary of the uncooked egg.

Did you ladies resist the temptation of alcohol?  Did you have a glass of wine?

I couldn't do even a sip of wine.  My heartburn has been out of control and wine is the worst.

Re: It was hard to resist the alcohol

  • No alcohol was served at any of our Christmas events, but I really could have used a drink or two!  I just over indulged in the dessert table when the "family togetherness" got to be too much for me.  My clothes don't fit, but my sanity is still intact.

Alcohol would have been nice.  I was actually kind of disappointed in the desserts, because my mom didn't make her french silk pie.  I think I'm going to make one for myself tonight.

  • I know right?!  It was so hard!  My secret weapon is the Shirley Temple.  I get the fizz of champagne, the tang of wine, and the garnish of mixed drinks!  Besides, it's truly delicious and it makes the baby swirl and kick for everyone's entertainment.

  • Not only would a drink have been welcome - but really anything other than water! DH is crazy about me drinking sodas, and gives me a face if I drink one cup. Ridiculous? Yes. But I want him to feel safe about this baby, too. I stayed unnaturally close to the wavy chips and french onion dip!
  • My FIL makes his own wine.....yummy. They just got done bottling a batch so I got one WHOLE taste. I had to force myself away because it was sooo good. DH definitly gave me a side eye for taking the tiniest sip. I should have taken a huge gulp and made it count....damn.

I think i'm still on a sugar high from all the Lyndor (sp) truffles I ate

  • I didn't have a problem nor ever have a problem now resisting alcohol.

I do find it hard to resist sushi though. Man, I miss sushi.

Why resist? Have some with cooked salmon or vegetables.

  • I did sip a 4 oz glass of wine with dinner.  I think it took a total of 2 hours for me to drink the whole glass.  It was really good wine that the fam had been saving to open, and I decided to partake even if it was only a bit.

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • I must admit.  I did indulge...a LITTLE.  I swiped little sips of hubby's beer all afternoon long yesterday.  It probably didn't add up to a whole one, though, and it was over the course of about 6 hours, so I don't feel bad about it.  Ok, maybe just a teensy bit bad about it.  Yummy!

  • I had one very weak mimosa on Christmas day and enjoyed every sip of it!

  • I've had wine.

I've had sushi (raw tuna, raw salmon)

    I've had cheeses

For me, it's about moderation.  I don't have them every day (nor every week) but if I get them from a reputable place, it's a-ok USA for me and my OB.

  • FIL makes his own beer and he had a christmas spiced ale that smelled soooo good, but I didn't drink any, I just kept smelling DH's glass. And family from out of town brought a bottle of chocolate cranberry ale which smelled like chocolate in a glass, but I didn't have any of that either. The weird thing is that I don't usually like beer, but since about week 8, I have wanted one soo bad!! Esp the home brewed and micro brewed stuff.
