Nice Christmas dinner convo, MIL...

Did MIL really talk about when they stitched her vag up during our Italian pasta and gravy, eggplant parm, basically everything red Christmas dinner yesterday? Why yes, she did. Indifferent <--- THIS was the facial expression around the table. So, I quickly changed the subject because that meal was a lot of hard work to make! Sabotage or just plain doesn't know any better?? *scratches head* I shall never know.

  • This sounds exactly like my MIL. She goes into such detail on things like that and always when eating. This year it was the detail about what damage each of her children did to her and the surgery she is having to repair it all next week.

  • At least your MIL is open and shares personal things with you! Mine is nice but very closed off. In my family, we blab about everything and I love it that way (though maybe not so much during a red dinner ; )

  • My FIL (whom I already find creepy 90% of the time) thought it'd be fun to see if my SIL had any words of breastfeeding wisdom for me over Christmas dinner.  Not as gory, but just as awkward.

  • That's disgusting. Send her a cookie pie with a big red vag on it and tell her to have fun with her new money maker.

  • mom worked for an ob/gyn for years and I work in a hospital.  this is usual topics of conversation for us.  My grandmother brought up episotomy (sp?) as well but it was just us ladies at the time so it was ok.  I tend to ignore it but if it gets beyond my comfort level i just let them know and then change the subject to something us.

If it was just ladies I think it would have been fine. I guess I also should have mentioned MH, 11 yr old DS and my Mom's new BF were at the table too. NICE! haha.
