Still use play gym?

My DD is almost 6 mos. our play gym was cheap, and is falling apart. Is it worth it to get a new better one? Or do they stop being useful once your LO can crawl?

Do you mean the play mat with hanging toys? I would just ditch it.

My DS can't crawl yet but he would have no interest in his play gym at this point- he wants to sit up to play. We have hardwood floors so we bought a very small rug for him to sit on and I place his toys in front of him with a blanket bunched around him. This is how he plays for a lot of the day. Then sometimes I'll bring him into one of the only carpeted rooms we have and lay him on his belly to try and get him some time to try crawling (he's not even close, though). Could you just put a big blanket down instead?

I wouldn't, IMO. DD stopped using hers a while ago, so we packed it away.

DD still uses it everyday. I imagine when she starts sitting unassisted that she wont be using it much at that point.

Thanks for the advice. She still uses it everyday, and I think it will last a little longer. I won't get another.

Apparently we're outside the norm....DD still loves her play mat and spends a good amount of time on it in the morning. She's still groggy and doesn't want to sit and she can't crawl so I lay her on her back and she talks to her animal friends as she wakes up, then she starts rolling around off it once she wakes up.
