they take turns!!! every other feeding they take turns being awake...for like an hour (if not more) then they'll fall asleep 30 mins before their next feeding. Then their next feeding they can barely stay awake. Is that normal? When/if they are awake, is it wrong that theyre not being held the whole time? I hold them for 20ish minutes to bond but then lay them down in their bassinet to sleep...no dice on the falling asleep part. Theyre not fussy (most of the time) when theyre awake on their own...
Also, what are your tricks to keep your babies/preemies up for feedings?
Re: random long waketimes at 2 weeks
It all sounds normal to me. And, there aren't any tricks that realy worked for us to keep them awake. They are just sleepy babies. We just had to wake them every time.
As for the not holding them part, I think what you're doing is fine. We held our babies a lot in the beginning, but also put them down a lot to just relax in the swing or in their bouncers to do so we could get other thigns done. Now, they aren't babies that demand to be held all the time and do great just playing by themselves, watching us, falling asleep on their own, etc.
