Just wondering if you ladies would like to share some of your favorite pg things. For those further along, maybe some things you wish you tried sooner?
Some things I'm curious about:
*Best constipation cure (with my last pg, when I was constipated was when I started spotting--I think it was from straining, so I would really like to not spot this time if possible. I know it didn't cause my m/c, but still...)
*Your favorite pg pillow
*Lotion/stretch mark cream (I know, they are genetic--I already have some, but if it's possible it will help, I'll try it.)
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness.
TIA!
Re: Can I do a "favorites" post?
I will play along!
Constipation cure: haven't had too much trouble, but the one time I did I took: prune juice, fiber bar, milk of mag and got things moving pretty quick.
Pillow: I bought a firm king size pillow that is my best friend and I am thinking about getting a snoogle for the next 2 months
Lotion: coco butter on the belly and California babies unscented on my nipples; start putting lotion there early they get dryer through the pregnancy.
M/S: 1st tri was lemonade, 2nd tri couldn't stand the stuff. Now I usually get nauseous b/c of the sweets I crave and organize 0% milk has to always be on hand, it is so GOOD and yet gross!
Bonus: My all time favorite thing has been my doppler worth every penny if you have to buy one (my friend gave me hers!).

This is exactly what I'm talking about! Thank you thank you! I do have a doppler--my friend let me borrow hers with my last pg, but I never got to use it. She hasn't asked for it back yet, so hopefully I will get to use it for this one. And I didn't even think about moisturizer for nipples this early--but that makes sense!
seriously I have itchy nips, I should try this

Ohh! Thank you!
Can you believe I've never had Ginger Ale? I am going to have to get some I think b/c I've heard it tastes good too
6/14/10 BFP; 6/30/10 Dx ectopic
11/16/10 BFP #2; DD born 7/26/11
*Best constipation cure- the only thing that works for me is deep dish pizza hut pizza. I had a horrible time right after my m/c and nothing worked. I called DH hysterical and told him to get me pizza. I was a very happy girl that night.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness. - I've been living off ginger ale. I'm not pukey but have been nauseous off and on since before my BFP. The ginger ale helps a lot.
ETA - I also get really raging headaches and when ginger ale doesn't help I'll try ginger beer. In my store it's sold by the specialty sodas with all the other 900 different kinds of root beer and drink mixers. I guess the concentration of ginger is higher so it helps a lot.
I'm no help on any of the other topics but I'm curious what the other ladies have to say!!
Holy crap! That oil is $54 on amazon! Did you spend that much?
Pillow: My mom bought be a boppy body pillow thing for Christmas. So far, so good...
Lotion: I've just been using regular lotion, but I do have some vitamin E oil that I've been using on extra dry spots that are popping up.
M/S: I switch to the chewy prenatals and that was really helpful. I feel like such a weirdo for even saying this out loud, but I keep a little bag of almonds and crasins in my pocket while I'm teaching and every 15-20 minutes or so I eat an almond or a crasin or something. When my MW suggested this I thought it was crazy and didn't try it for 2 weeks, but my m/s lingered forever and I think it's more to do with blood sugar levels dropping than anything else at this point.
Also- when you know getting sick is inevitable and you've got an empty stomach drink some water. You'll still get sick, but the heaving won't be bad b/c there will be something to come up. (I hope you don't have to deal with that though!!)
1. luckily I have avoided that problem so far, just try to eat lots of fiber.
2. Snoogle. all the way. I got it at 17weeks-ish. At 14weeks I started to have back pain in the mornings and it helped a ton.
3. I don't bother with any creams. But I did just start noticing stretch marks.
4. Nerds! The sweet/sour combo really helped. I got the little halloween sized boxes and kept them in my desk/purse/bed. A big part of m/s can be low blood sugar, so the fact that it is pure sugar I am sure helped too.
Good luck!

Keep a puke-bag in your purse. Just knowing that it's there if you ever feel the need to spew your cookies is so much better (as opposed to spewing in your sweatshirt).
I steal them from the airplane
Oh, and don't be afraid to bite the bullet and buy a pair of maternity jeans. The comfort of those sweet things makes the bella band seem like an iron madien. I got two pairs last week (one for Christmas), and wow, just wow.

*Best constipation cure I never really had to deal with that, sorry
However, I've heard shakes help a lot. I think all the cereal I eat keeps me regular. There's just something about dairy products...
*Your favorite pg pillow Just 2 body pillows, one for my back and one for the front/between my legs. I was sleeping like a champ until about 2 weeks ago.
*Lotion/stretch mark cream I don't use anything, I just let them come. It is what it is.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness. Also didn't really deal with this... Popsicles worked pretty well the few times I was nauseous. If I ever threw up (a total of 4 times the whole pregnancy), it was just once in the morning and then I was fine the rest of the day.

*Best constipation cure - I had absolutely horrible constipation on Zofran. The ONLY thing that worked for me was a Wendy's frosty shake (not a regular frosty, a shake). WIthin 30 minutes, I was going!
*Your favorite pg pillow King Size firm pillow in the beginning. Now, I use a standard pillow to go under my belly and a small but long rectangular throw pillow to go behind my back. When I flip over, it reverses, but I've been sleeping very well this way for quite a while!
*Lotion/stretch mark cream - I have tons of stretch marks.
Thanks, Mom! I think the Palmer's cocoa butter makes my skin softer and less dry, and since DH is obsessed with the pg belly, I suppose it is better for him, but it doesn't help the eleventy billion marks there. Ugggh... I also use Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness. After I stopped taking Zofran and Phenergan, I still threw up the second I got out of bed with both pregnancies. I attribute it to just having a nasty taste in my mouth and sinus drainage (eww). Now, I take my gummy prenatals while still in bed, then munch on cereal until I brush my teeth or eat a real high protein breakfast. I haven't thrown up for about 10 weeks now!! I second the Lemonade, cold ice water, and lots of hidden hard candies or chewy fruity candy to stave off nausea in public.

Best constipation cure - Miralax. It was the only thing that could counteract the Zofran. In juice or Kool Aid you couldn't even taste it.
*Your favorite pg pillow -I need to invest in this. I've been eyeing the Snoogle and I think I'm going to to use one of my Xmas gift cards.
*Lotion/stretch mark cream (I know, they are genetic--I already have some, but if it's possible it will help, I'll try it.) I've been using cocoa butter lotion but it hasn't been helping in the constant itching. This morning I layered my stomach in Bath & Body Works body butter and that seems to be helping a little more.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness. Icy water and super salty potato chips. I munched on them constantly for the first few months.
*Best constipation cure - I don't know, I haven't been to bad yet.
*Your favorite pg pillow - I have two different body pillows.
*Lotion/stretch mark cream - None of them really work so I just use whatever lotion I want.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness. - Ginger Lotion from Orgins(it worked so well when I was pregnant with Ian, I need to get some now), Ginger Ale, Jolly Ranchers
*Best constipation cure- Activia yogurt daily, and lots of high fiber foods. Vitatop muffins if I'm really in trouble. But these are more of preventative measures. I've had a couple episodes where I've been really constipated and it sucks big time to literally be on the toliet crying on the phone with my dh. I'm almost jealous of the people who haven't had to deal with it at all.
*Your favorite pg pillow- The snoogle! I bought it after my NT scan and I'm so glad! I don't sleep that great anymore, but I imagine it'd be even worst without it.
*Lotion/stretch mark cream- I've been really itchy almost this entire pregnancy so I use a ton of lotions. I slather on Bath and Body works stuff after I shower and I alternate the rest of the day between that, palmers cocoa butter lotion and belly butter, and just recently bought burts bees mama bee belly balm.
*Favorite thing for nausea/morning sickness- I never acutally puked but did have that nasty queasey feeling most of first tri. The biggest thing that helped me was eating saltine crackers with a litte butter on them and a small can of 7up.
*Bonus- My biggest pregnancy must have is a netti pot. I've suffered from congestion since I got my BFP (no one tells you about that lovely pregnancy side effect) and was too scared to try a netti pot. I finally did in November and I am in love with it. BEST PURCHASE EVER! My congestion is not nearly as bad and it really helped when I was having horrible allergies and couldn't take anything for it.
Constipation cure: Bananas. Lots of bananas.
Pg pillow: I've just been building a pillow/blanket fort and tucking them under/around whatever parts feel like they need it.
Lotion: Whatever I have on hand for my legs. I did have a coupon for a free bottle of Publix Cocoa Butter Lotion, so I use that.
Nausea/morning sickness: I lived on oatmeal for most of 1st tri. Also, plain bagels with a little butter helped.
I never held you, but I always loved you.
