How did you feel 3 weeks PP after c-section?

I'm crazy, but scheduled my DD's 3rd birthday party for 3 weeks after we have the twins. It's going to be at our house. All food has already been ordered and paid for. It's just going to be grandparents and siblings. Total number of people will be 14 people. Various members will be picking up the food on their way over to the party. My mom will come over and clean my house before and after the party is over.

I feel like it should be okay since its just immediate family and I won't have to do anything, but now I am second guessing myself.

So, should I keep the original party date and hope for the best or re-schedule it for sometime in February.

Her b-day is the 16th so I did already push the party back a week.

Re: How did you feel 3 weeks PP after c-section?

  • Since it is family and you have it all planned out and organized. I think you will be fine. I was walking the mall with my family a week after my C-section.

    Have fun!

  • I hosted my mom, grandmother and ILs for Thanksgiving 2 weeks and 2 days after my c-section.  I was off the narcotic pain meds before leaving the hospital and was just taking the anaprox (Rx strength Aleve) at night by that point, and not every night.   My mom and I cooked 98% of the meal, decorated and I did most of the cleanup from dinner.  I was wiped the next day, but I managed it.

I think as long as you have as much in place as possible beforehand, you'll be fine.  GL!

  • I was fine, in fact we drove 13 hours to New Hampshire when the girls were 3w old.

but that was probably bc we were tired and crazy :P For a small party like that though you should be all right.

  • I felt nearly normal at 3 weeks PP.  The first week I had a lot of pain and continued all my pain meds, plus I had mobility issues left over from 14 weeks of bedrest.  The second week I was taking the ibuprofen but only a few of the more potent pain meds, and I was getting around better.  I got the clearance to drive again at my 2 week PP OB/GYN appt.  At about 2 1/2 or 3 weeks PP I was able to fit into my pre-pregnant pants again, which made me feel a lot better....lol.
After 20 months TTC with PCOS, we were blessed with twins!

  • I'd keep it as is.  You'll be fine and probably appreciate the extra hands being there for a couple of hours.

  • Sounds like you have it all covered and should be ok-you will be very exhausted (this is an understatement!), but I bet you can make it through.

Three weeks after my c-section I went for a SLOW jog b/c compared to being 37 weeks pregnant I felt fanfreakingtastic! But then I googled c-sections and jogging and it scared the crap out of me. I will blame my extreme stupidity on sheer exhaustion. But I digress. I think you will be fine-I hope it goes off without a hitch!!

  • I think you'll be fine.  I felt great 1 1/2 weeks later.  The best advice I got was "get up and walk asap."  I could only walk to the bathroom for 24 hours.  After that I was walking behind/pushing a wheelchair to the NICU.  Like PP said the extra hands will probably be nice.

  • Ditto all PP, honestly by 3 weeks post-section my only complaint was the sleep deprivation! I felt back to normal physically at 2 weeks. GL!

  • I felt completely fine at 3 weeks pp.  The first week was the roughest and then I felt great after that.  I had an easier recovery this time then I did with my first c/s.
