Nipple shield causing spit up

Do any of you have a problem with your lo spitting up A LOT and use a nipple shield?? I was and today I tried feeding without, besides the fact my lo is latching on fine now, he hasn't spit up! Not sure why these are related but for some reason they are- all I can think is he was getting to much milk at a time bc it collects in the shield.

    The shield would make her gag a little and then spit up. She spits up really easily though :/

    Not sure if you're still using a shield since you posted a while ago, but do you think the shield is too big for her mouth?  They come in different sizes, and LC's are now starting to size the nipple shields to the baby instead of the mom.  Just a thought :)
