in Pregnant after a Loss

My insurance ends at the end of the year and I get a new one Jan 1st. I don't really know how good the new one is. I wanted to see if my OB would do my anatomy scan on Dec 31(if open) so I could use my insurance for the last time. I'll be 17 weeks 6 days. They do scans 18-20 weeks. I did my anatomy scan with Ella at 18 weeks 3 days.

What do you think my chances are to be able to do it?

    It seems a little on the early side (though I have seen people who get them done around 17 weeks), but you could always just ask your doc and see what he says.  Worst case scenario is he says no and you have to wait.

    I've heard of them being done around 16 weeks. I agree, it can't hurt to ask.

    It can't hurt to ask, and I do know that they have been done that early. However, they may not be able to properly see everything they need to see that early on for the anatomy scan, including a 4-chamber heart view, or the kidneys. Those 2 things are harder to see the earlier you are. Ideally, 19 weeks is best, but it never does hurt to ask. Good luck!

    Can you contact your new insurance and find out what they cover?  It might be worth the week or two wait?!  Although I am sure our awesome docs would be happy to oblige.

    hehe They are awesome! We will see. I would like to go on Jan 3rd so we will see. We had no issues seeing everything with DD at 18 weeks 3 days. I'll be getting a million u/s anyway because of high risk issues.

    My hospital will only do the 1. Confirmation of pregnancy and EDD 2. Anatomy scan and 3. Only If Needed. They wouldn't let me do a gender scan at 17 wks so I went and had one done privately at 17w2d for the gender determination and I'll do the anatomy scan at 19w4d on Jan 3rd. All "extra" u/s are out of pocket UNLESS your dr needs to check for something medical. Depends on if your dr will create a good enough reason to do one, like the heartbeat was a little slow or your belly wasn't measuring correctly so he wants to check growth. Good luck!
