I'm going to my 36 wk appt

newbaby on the waynewbaby on the way
in 3rd Trimester

on thursday and I plan of taking my 5 yr old son  and my almost 2 yr old son as well. My OB told me it was a regular check up so I guess taking my kids should be fine right? I wouldn't take them if she was going to do an internal.

Maybe after this appt she will check me to see how much I'm dialated=).

    My office starts internals at 36 weeks. But I'm refusing them anyways. They don't really tell you anything.

    It will be cool for your little ones to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler!

    It'll be fine to have them there! I see pregnant patients bring their LOs all the time to their appointments. I would if I didn't have another option. My OB office starts internals at 38w. If your OB wanted to go one this week you can always just refuse it til the next week.

    You can refuse an internal, however 36 weeks is when most offices start checking you. I would call ahead just to make sure.

    Have you already had your strep test?  My doctor does it at 35 or 36 weeks.  You might want to check into that because I don't think that is something you can refuse.

    I haven't had the strep test. My Ob didn't metion anything about having the strep test done during my 36 wk appt. If I only have the internal I will refuse to it and just do it when I go again which will probably be next week for my 37 weeks. Thanks everyone, I think I will take them especially my 5 yr old because he's on winter vacation and he would love to hear the babys heartbeat.
