City Select strollers moms!!

Im really interested on getting the city select guys, but I don't know much about it except it has the mix and match 16 different combination which I love, so maybe for those of you who has it can answer a few questions for me? Like, when you buy it what does it come with exactly? Does it come with the carseats as shown on the picture? Does it come with 1 of the bassinets or do we buy 2 of them? What do I need to buy in a addition to the stroller itself? And do I just contact baby jogger directly and ask if it takes the carseats we have? Ive read that it takes many manufactured carseats but was wondering if it took mine before I bought it. Sorry for so many questions but Id really like your help before I purchased something this expensive. Thanks a lot..

Re: City Select strollers moms!!

  • the stroller comes with one seat. you have to purchase an extra seat set to use it as a double. the car seats do not come with and you must purchase the car seat adaptors as well. if you want to use the bassinets you will need to purchase those as well.

here is the information about which car seats are available: https://www.babyjogger.com/faq.aspx#faq4

  • i would not bother with the bassinets- not needed since you can lay the regular seats back fully and use with infants... or use with the car seats adapters and car seats (use like a DSNG)

it's a fantastic stroller - not cheap- but worth it to me to have a tandem that isn't super long, and have all the other options - it's esp nice when i am only taking one child out i can quickly make it into a single stroller without having to swap strollers out of my car/garage.  I keep the Select in my car at all times.

having the seats snap off so easily is a great benefit, too - when there are tons of crumbs/food all over the seat-  you can pop it off - flip upside down, and clean it out so easily - this is an unexpected benefit that i LOVE about this stroller :)

  • personally i got a ton of use out of the bassinets. it was like having a pack and play on wheels for me this summer. i left the bassinets on until the beans were 3 1/2 months old. granted i had summer babies so it was nice to be able to have them be outside right next to me but in the shade sleeping in their bassinets, it gave me a lot of freedom this summer.

i personally found it a little awkward to use the car seats on the base. i still use the car seats on the stroller for convenience sometimes but they are obviously much heavier then the stroller seats or the bassinet so the stroller isn't quite as easy to maneuver.

i actually just got an email from diapers.com, the city select is 20% off https://www.diapers.com/product/productdetail.aspx?productid=25071&cm_mmc=mrkt_email-_-ret-_-2010_12_26_Diapers_retention_EOY_clearance_Part_II-_-cityselect

  • I use the stroller with their car seats (similar to a dsng).  I have the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seats.  There are two different car seat adapters to choose from based on the car seats you have.  Getting all the parts really adds up, but it is a nice stroller.  So without any sales you are looking at the stroller itself ($500), Second seat adapter ($169), two car seat adapters ($69 each x 2).   I also like being able to make it a single stroller.  I take one boy to physical therapy every week so its nice to be able to use the same stroller with ease.  I did not get the bassinets.  For me it made more sense to just use the car seats.

  • I used the DSNG for about 3 weeks and then couldn't stand it.  It was so hard to maneuver, I couldn't get to the basket, etc..  My DH and I went to look at the City Select and fell in love.  I can steer it with one hand.  Like others mentioned it just comes with the one seat, so we had to buy the extra seat attachment, and the two car seat adapters.  It ended up costing us $800 in total, but honestly so worth it.  When we take all 3 kids out we put my older DD in a seat in the front and one of the twins in teh car seat in teh back, then we put the other twin in a shopping cart (my older DD refuses to sit still in a shopping cart so we wanted a stroller that could accomodate two car seats, or a car seat and a toddler).  Its easy to set up and take apart.  The only thing I dislike is that it doesn't have a cup holder!  The person at the store I bought it from sold me a separate cup holder attachment from Baby Jogger but it wasn't wide enough to fit the handle tubing.  Anyway I love the stroller and highly recommend it!  THe basket is huge and I can easily get to it!
