On a different note... beginner sewing projects?

any suggestions??? I just got a machine for Christmas and wanna get started ASAP! :) Patterns and beginner stuff I might need and/or would be easy to make would be awesome!

  • Come see me, and we'll make cloth napkins!  (I have a pretty adorable custruction crew in my house for the nest 2 weeks, if you need eye candy while you learn to sew Wink)

  • I can think of a ton.. cloth napkins, unpaper towels (I still haven't gotten around to sewing mine- oops!), wet bags, pillowcase dresses, pillows (2 squares of some gorgeous fabric= fun throw pillows, no pattern necessary!).

    I'm going to be trying my hand at some doll clothes here shortly- we got DD a small waldorf doll for christmas, and I think she needs some fun clothes. Not like DD will be able to change them or anything for awhile, but Mommy can play!

  • I agree with Jenn on this one.  Cloth napkins are the way to go for a beginner.  You can make some turned and topstitched, and others with a rolled hem.  Both are very important skills, and the outcome is very usable.
