I'd just wait until baby is here since you don't know how big he'll be, if he'll like swaddling, or if he requires a fancy swaddler over swaddling in a normal blanket. You can always just go and buy (or order) the smaller one if it is truly needed.
ETA: Silly me. Reading fail! I was thinking swaddler, not sleepsack (not sure which kind of Halo you are looking at). I still stick by my "wait it out" thoughts as long as you have enough other things for him to sleep in. We don't have any sleepsacks, we're just planning on layering clothes + blanket swaddle if he likes that.
both of my babies loved to be swaddled for the first 4 weeks or so. i just used recieving blankets for that but when they get a little bigger and they don't like to be swaddled, then i use the Halo sleep sacks. i have two in the 0-3 month (i have smaller babies) and i have two in the bigger size. i have not opened the smaller ones just in case i can return them.
it really is babies preference although, i have never seen or heard of a newborn that hated being swaddled.

I would get a Halo sleep sack with the swaddle wings in a smaller size that you can use right away. I'm not sure if that would be a NB or a S (can't remember how they are sized). They are awesome! Once you want to ditch the swaddle you can take off the wings and then it is just a sleep sack.
We only swaddled DS for about two weeks because he kept breaking free and waking up. He slept in gowns with hand covers and a sleep sack until about six months. I would maybe exchange the larger size for a smaller one because I didn't have much need for them after six months. You will have warm weather by then. After seven months DS was sleeping with his light blankie too.

FWIW DD hated to be swaddled from birth and wriggled out of even the snugglist of wraps done by the nurses at the birth center.

6-12 mos is really bug so if youa re goign to use them right away then you need the 0-6 because your LO will be swimming in them. I used them with DS and I plan on using them with DD.

Swaddle till 6 months, no sleep sacks.
Get the 6-12m one for after swaddling ends.
