Failed my 1-hr glucose

Just checked my doctor's office's online website and it looks like I failed the test. :(  I guess I'll hear from them on Monday or so.  Anyone fail the 1 hour and not fail the 3?  I'm a little freaked.  I had to take an early test because I'm on metformin for my PCOS.  Dang it.

Re: Failed my 1-hr glucose

  • I failed the 1 and passed the 3, and I've heard a lot of other people have done the same. I took it early too, because of a family history of gestational diabetes. My dr had me retested later in the pregnancy (maybe 28 weeks?) and I passed the 1 hr then. Good luck!

  • I failed the 1 and the 3 hour, and was on Met through the first tri for PCOS as well. It sucked, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I was able to keep it in check with my diet, and my #'s were only ever over if I'd splurged and not followed my diet. Keep us posted on how your 3 hour goes, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or page me on here and I'll help with anything I can!

Thank you!!  I really appreciate that.  I'm trying to stay positive until after the 3 hour, but I'm pretty disappointed in myself, for no good reason.

Seriously, don't be disappointed in yourself. You're already at a disadvantage with the PCOS. I didn't have GD with my son, but had it with my daughter. Who knows why. It just is what it is. And thankfully, it's only a few short weeks.

I can't tell you, however, how good Thanksgiving dinner was for me last year after having not been able to eat mashed potatoes (or at least not w/out sacrificing any other carbs at the meal!) for 2 months! It was a special kind of heaven. lol

  • I failed the 1 hour and was border line pass on the 3 hour test. Really, I like barely passed. So instead of medications for GD, I was put on a no sugar, low carb diet fro the rest of pregnancy. Not sure which was worse but in the end it wasn't that bad. Don't feel bad though, I know lots of people who fail the 1 hour and end up passing the 3 hour. Sometimes it can just depend on your day which is why they like to send you back for the 3 hour.
