We have an Ergo and I love it. But my husband does not. So we got a Kelty Backpack from REI (I think you can get them other places too.) We use it ALL the time. We never take a stroller anywhere anymore. DH even wears him around the house and while doing yard work. The one we have is the "cadillac" of carriers. It has a zip off diaper bag, sun/rain hood, mirror so the person wearing it can see babe, and loops to attach toys too.
I bought a Kelty Kids carrier from Craigslist for like $80, which is about 1/3 of the cost new. DS likes it - he lasts about 45 minutes before he wants out. Its kinda big and I'm not sure I'd want to wear it on a subway or some place like that.
It does NOT have a metal frame. I'm not a big fan of metal frames and we live and hike in Colorado.
It easily adjustable for my height vs. DH's with a simple slider.
It's got an attached back pack with an extra detachable toddler back pack or a day pack if you prefer to look at it that way.
The 2.0 is nice too but we need a sun cover and the 3.0 comes with it.
I'm thinking this is the best way to get me and the 2 kids thru the airport this holiday season.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Re: Recommend your backpack style carrier

Kelty also has a cool one that coverts to a stroller too.
I'm in the process of ordering the new Kelty TC 3.0
