Can I AW for a second?

I haven't been pumping enough for Ds. Part of that is stress, part is dehydration, infrequent pumping, and his huge leap in intake. I've only been pumping once a day for a few weeks and I get 16-20 ounces. Since my trip to CA I've been getting 4-6 ounces. It just isn't enough!

I was pouting about it earlier and said something along the lines of well, maybe I should just stop. Dh was playing a video game so I was mostly just talking to myself (not even seriously). He stops playing looks at me and says "They're your boobs so it is your decision. But I've heard lots of good things about breastmilk. I think it is better for him to get even a little bit of breast milk rather than just formula. If you need me to do something to help you pump I will. If you just need support I can do that too. Just do whatever will make you and Ds happy. I could get you some of those hippie maple syrup pills if you want."

Maple syrup pills? Huh? I finally figured out he's talking about Fenugreek. How did he hear about that? I think he has been doing secret breastfeeding research! Dh has always been supportive of me but I didn't think he cared one way or another about BFing. I guess I was wrong!

  • That is awesome and super sweet. DH was not super supportive about bfing at first, but he came around and... well, it really helps to have a partner on your side!

    Have a great day, mama!

  • That is really awesome!  It makes such a huge difference to have a partner who is truly supportive of BFing.  Give your DH a pat on the back from us!

  • That's fantastic. I want to hug your husband right now. My husband was super supportive and it makes it so much nicer to know you have someone who is really fighting for you, even if it is just emotional support.

And keep your chin up and don't give up. It's just a rough point right now. We all have them.

  • It's always nice when they come up with this on their own & are there to support us. And hugs for the struggles. I'm with you.

  • How sweet!  I caught my DH reading two mommy-centered articles this week, one about the pain we think I've been having in my hand called "mommy hand" for short and the other about breastfeeding.  Who knew they even cared?!
