Parenting after 35

So excited for tomorrow morning...

Owen comes down the stairs this morning & was so excited & goes to get his brother Liam. "Liam, come here & look". It really was too cute.  We got presents from friends last night & put them under the tree.  I was waiting to put our presents under the tree when they are off to sleep tonight.  Oh my goodness it really was precious & I am definitely waiting in future years to put stuff under the tree!

I think he will have the same excitement tomorrow morning since there will be so much more stuff & the stockings will be filled.  This is the 1st year he really get's it too!

So of course I want to make sure he understand it's not just about the presents & I ask him what tomorrow is & he say's "It's baby jesus' birthday".  Just melts my heart!

Happy Holidays!

  • We were just talking about that last night.... Do you put "other" gifts under the tree as they come in and just break out the Santa stuff for Christmas Eve?

I think when he's older and more aware, it would be hard to hide packages from relatives when the arrive from the mailman, so those could go right under the tree immediately.  Same with stuff from Mommy & Daddy.

    Thoughts?

  • Yeah, I like putting the relative/mailed in stuff under the tree right away, and saving the stuff we get her for the "big reveal" in the morning.  It's so fun!

After this morning, I definitely want to hide gifts till Christmas morning - well, at least for the next few years.  I am hoping we get the same reaction tomorrow morning!  I considered hiding the gifts from friends & relatives.. & should have ; ( because they did not see the gifts yesterday.

I also mentioned that Santa will fill their stockings.. so at least those are completely empty!

  • We're tracking Santa now and can't wait until tomorrow either. This is the first year that Christmas actually means something is happening in DD#1's world.

  • Awesome - I also can't wait until we are there so she'll get what it's about.

We hid all gifts until this morning. She's still asleep but everything is laid out under the tree, ready to go...
