so, uh dh's mom asked me to make deviled eggs, and mashed potatoes yesterday to bring today...
So, I get the stuff to make it, and think, Hey- I will be nice and even do a cheese ball...well, dh's mom just called me as is asking me how I make my potatoes, if I use red potatoes, did I peel them, etc-
In my head the whole time she is grilling me about my potatoes, I am thinking...."*** don't know who she is talkin' too"
I hate smashed potatoes- she told me not to peel them, to leave the skin on...
I like smooth whipped potatoes-I have an easy family recipe, from my mom who knows how to cook, and do it well...I planned on using it...
it is a texture thing- I do not like smashed potatoes....But the main thing is, do not ask me to make not 1, but 2 things, last minute, then tell me how to make it, I will tell you where you can put your mashed potatoes lady...
meanwhile dh is saying"just do it how you were gonna do it..." "
I am like, "I am not about to tell your mom, I am gonna do it one way, and show up with something completely different-I do not operate like that" he is like" oh well, I am not gonna eat em," and I said, "great, me either...Hope you mom enjoys them..."
VENT OVER. LOL : )

Listen to your DH and do it the way you planned to do it. If she says anything just say oh I didn't know how to tell you when you called that I had already made them. People are so rude, when someone asks you to bring food or you offer they don't get to dictate how you do it.
I was sick of my MIL crappy potatoes so I just said I would make them. She was like oh how do you do it and I told her and she was like that's how I do them. In my head I was like no f---ing way you make them the way I do or they wouldn't be runny and bland.

DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
Grr... I would just have said I am using my family's recipe- if you want another kind, then make them yourself. And I'd bring my family's recipe version.
Very rude to ask someone to make something and then tell them how to make it.
Sorry

OOH girl- when I saw this post it was 12:30 am... DH's family eats dinner about 8 , goes to church @10:00, and comes home to open presents at 12 am! christmas day...
I realize everyone's family has different traditions, but I do not think this is one Iwould carry on with our family...We came home at 3:40 am this morning...I just woke up here- to snow so I am happy about that : )
I just hate staying up that late, because it makes me feel awful the next next day- even nauseated sometimes...ugh. It is like the spend the night parties you had as a kid, where no one sleep and you feel terrible the next day...
everyone loved the mashed potatoes, and ate ALL the deviled eggs, and dh and I ate some of the cheeseball... I survived.
