I don't mean down for naps, I mean literally putting LO down and not holding them during the day. I feel compelled to hold DS during the day so long as he's awake and content in my arms. DH thinks I should put him down more often so I can have some more "me" time. I'm sure DH is right, I just feel guilty or neglectful if I'm not holding LO.
Re: Putting LO down during the day
Same here.
I have a toddler, so I really can't hold him all day! He also will sleep for 3 hours sometimes- if he falls asleep I'll hold him for a little bit then put him down. IMO it only helps in the long run for them to be comfortable sleeping on their own for at least some of the day!
Obviously, if baby is upset I will hold him as long as he needs!
I definitely agree with your DH. I think you should put LO down more but not so YOU can get me time, so your LO can get some me time! They need some independent time during the day or they will get overstimulated. It is also wonderful for their development! He will actually be more secure as an older baby/toddler if he learns to be by himself. If he is never alone, he will think something is wrong with that.
ETA: Just wanted to add that I didn't mean put him down for every waking minute, but do make sure to give him at least 10-15 minutes of time to play by himself on a baby mat or sit in his bouncy chair, whatever. But definitely take advantage of these cuddle days while you can, just don't forget to give him some independence, too!
