1st Temper Tantrum

Ahhh milestones, how wonderful.

My kid loves bananas.  She calls them nini.  Super cute right?  So I let her hold the bananas while shopping at Wegmans.  We check out and she cries a bit as the bananas go down the belt.  So the cashier comments something, don't even really remember.  And I say, Oh, she just really likes bananas.

She rings them up, rips one open, hands it back to dd all unpeeled.  (insert Indifferent face)  She shoves it as far into her mouth as it will go and just sits there with her mouth open and half the banana in there.  Great.  What age do they figure out taking bites?  I have always cut them up, so dd doesn't know yet.  Well, I let her suck on the banana until I get her into the car and tell her "One bite", break off a bit for her, and put the rest of the banana away.  Bc I can't very well have her in the car seat eating a banana and possibly choking on it.

TEMPER TANTRUM all the way home.  Luckily only 5 minutes, but still.  I tried the toddler-ease thing since I figured it wouldn't hurt and plus I was in my car and not around people.  "want nini, want nini now" haha funny, but didn't work.

So she is eating the rest of her banana in her high chair now and crackers and about to take a nap, whew.

Re: 1st Temper Tantrum

  • I cannot believe the cashier at Wegmans did that!

Sounds like you handled the first trantrum very well

  • It makes me appreciate that I do most of our grocery shopping at walmart after I get out of work on the nights I close.  It can be annoying since there aren't usually many lines open after 9pm, but now I know it is worth it to be able to do it minus dd.

  • LOL.. That is a really funny story.. and so weird of the cashier.. Why not just hand her the whole bunch back? Eve has fits everytime she has to put whatever she is holding in the store down too..

I bought Eve this Dora Christmas CD a few days ago at Target (I really didn't want to, but she saw it herself and then would not put it down.. and I didn't want a huge target temper tantrum, LOL!) and we play it in the car.. and yesterday when we got home after doing all our christmas stuff as soon as we pulled onto our street, not even in our driveway yet, Eve started FREAKING OUT because she knew we were going to turn Dora off.. like full on tantrum/ real tears/ meltdown.. Seriously kid, what are we going to do? Drive around all day and night and let you listen to annoying Dora Christmas carols?
