had to sneak away to post this - SIL LMAO

So all week my SIL has been raving about this awesome chocolate cream pie she's making from scratch.  Talking it up big time.

She shows up today, and I notice right away that the pie crust is one of those prepackaged graham cracker crusts.   Of course now I have to be all subtle and ask her how she made this awesome 'from scratch' pie.... 

"So how did you make the filling?  I know my mom made a choc cream pie once and she had to melt the baking chocolate & then heat it with cream...."

"Oh no!  I just used instant pudding.  Like from the box.  Add milk & done."

& it should be no surprise that it's topped with cool whip right out of the tub!

I guess she thinks anything not bought pre-made is 'from scratch"  LOL

    reminds me of a birthday card I just received:

    "I baked this cake from scratch just for you.  I scratched the price label right off the box" LOL!

    lol. I totally cheat and do that. I'm bringing peppermint patty brownies to Christmas and I DEFINITELY used a box brownie mix and a package of peppermint patties lol. But at least I didn't tell everyone that they're "from scratch" Wink

    That would TOTALLY be something my SIL would do!! I didn't do much baking this year, but the one thing i did make from scratch is my DHs grandma's "knot cookie" recipe that has been passed down in the family. This is the 1st time I've made it, and though it isn't exactly like Grandma's (I didn't put the icing on right), DH said they tasted just like hers!
