TTC after 35

Temping Question - weekends?

I am going to start temping next cycle and had a question.  During the week I get up super early in order to get the kidlet to school and me to work on time.  On the weekends I normally sleep in a bit....not super late but a couple to a few hours later than on the weekdays.  Will this effect the charting/temping?  Should I set my alarm on weekends too and temp and go back to sleep?  What do ya'll do?  Thanks for any insight/advice!  :)

Re: Temping Question - weekends?

  • I usually set my alarm and then go back to sleep.  If I am no where near ovulation day, I don't worry about it as much.   Good luck!

  • I agree with Mrs.M.  A few hours can probably affect your waking temp.  I'd set the alarm to get your most accurate results.   Also, do you have a basal thermometer that measures to the hundredth?  ie- 97.15?  It made a difference for me. HTH :)

  • Unfortunately it will definitely have an impact on the accuracy of your chart. I set my alarm and just go back to sleep.

  • Oh how I was SO wishing ya'll were gonna say, "nope, won't change a thing" but I pretty well knew that wasn't going to be the case.

Thanks for the input, guess I'll be waking up at the same time every morning.  "They" say that is better for your body anyhow.

I got the Target basal thermometer.  It isn't opened yet, I could take it back still.  Where does one find one that measures to the hundredths?   Target only had one to choose from, their brand.

I think if its a "basal" that it will be fine. I just read some reviews on the Target website and they weren't great. Sounds like there are lots of days that get the same temp as the day before - some people think its an indication that it doesn't work well.

A lot of women like the CVS brand, or some brand found on Amazon (couldn't find it for you.) I started with the BD Digital Basal (bought on Amazon) which has been fine for me but it beeps consistently throughout the temp taking, which drives my husband crazy. So I just bought a CVS brand which is supposed to only beep at the beginning and the end. Who knows, that was probably a waste of money but oh well. LOL
