Hey ladies! Long time no talk! Metformin question
Hey ladies! I haven't been on in a while because we are on a break from IF treatments while we wait for me to get a contract teaching position. It has been very frustrating for me.
Anyway, I was Rx'd metformin today for PCOS. Am I allowed to drink alcohol while on this? I'm not one to go out and get drunk, but I do like to enjoy a glass or two of wine at home on the weekends and a drink or two when I go out with friends or go to holiday parties.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

I've been on it since 2005 and I also like drinking sometimes especially at parties. I enjoy a glass of wine sometimes at home also. I had asked my RE and she told me it shouldnt be a problem as long as its not a habit. But you can ask your doc to see what they suggest.
I take 3 a day and still enjoy a glass of wine or two sometimes. It says not to mix them, but I think as long as you aren't taking the pills with the alcohol you will be okay. I think it just makes your stomach upset.

It makes me sad not to be able to support everyone on here (but you are supported through my prayers always!). I had to take a break from this board for my emotions since we were on a TTC break anyway. Hopefully I find a permanent job soon so I can rejoin everyone!
I drink occasionally (depending on where I am in my cycle) but my nurses tell me alcohol should be avoided on Met. They said a drink now and then won't hurt but it really should be avoided. Boo.
