Handmade Holiday Check-In thru Dec 24

Sorry this is so late.  My mom is visiting, the kids are sick and I sliced my hand again....Embarrassed

Re: Handmade Holiday Check-In thru Dec 24

  • I got a lot done but not everything.  I made two bears made for the kids, 4 balls, a pair of longies, two ornaments, unpaper towels, a doll sling for DS to wear, and snack bags.

I still need to finish (at this point by March when DH gets home from training) pj pants, a set of pj's for both kids, two more diapers, lunch bag, and a school bag.

ETA:  This list is just what I did for the kids and DH.  I made some things for friends as well that I didn't include in here and have a couple things left on that list as well.

  • I have 3 of the 7 knitted ornaments done I was hoping for.

DH stocking is knitted up. The man has never had a decent stocking in his life and the one I started cross-stitching for him is still in progress.

DH after seeing his stocking hung asked if there was yarn left over and asked for a hat. I stopped making the ornaments to start the man a hat. He never asks me to knit him anything. It is 3/4's done.

  • I finished the zippered pouches (AW'd them on FB but I'll post pics here when I get a chance), glass tile necklaces & magnets for the ladies.  Everything is wrapped up & ready to go.

DH made a really awesome hook necklace out of koa for my brother - I need to remember to take a pic of it before it gets wrapped & AW the heck out of it.

DH made a gun cleaning box for my Dad (they hunt together) - no pics yet though.

DH made paper airplane shooters for our nephews & J - no pics yet either but they turned out awesome.

  • I made five flannel pillowcases (for nieces and nephew), six zippered pouches for storing art supplies (my mom's request to keep at her house for the grandkids), an apron (for my mom), a taggie blanket for my new cousin, two snowmen ornaments for my friend and a ton of little art projects with my DD for her to give to people.  I was so excited that I got everything done, with time to spare, that I spent all evening wrapping only to realize I forgot to take any pictures. :(  I'll just have to try and catch everyone while they are opening them.

  • I have ends to weave on my MIL's silk lace scarf, need to block the felted coasters, and put "dinner on us" baskets together.  I think all of this will take me a maximum of 2-3 hours, and I have all day tomorrow to get it finished.

I'm also framing some stuff for my ILs, but I'm not sure I call that handmade.  Either way, the frames should arrive tomorrow, and I don't need them until the 31st, so I'm good on those.

Unless something last-minute comes up, I think I'm good.

The past two weeks of work and extracurricular activities have been ridiculous.  I think I'll stay in a sweatshirt and yoga pants all day tomorrow.  If I don't leave the house again until Monday morning, I'll be a happy, happy girl.

  • Well, my handmade holiday was mostly a fail.  Everything I planned on doing fell through.

I am, however, making tutus for my nieces & 2 younger step sils.  The tulle is tied on, I just need to sew the waistbands together and add the bows & flowers.

Making cookies for my uncle to give with the watch he asked for.

Need to put together the DVD of my grandpa's funeral for my grandma (weird gift, I know).  She's also getting a calendar of DD.

I would REALLY like to make some kind of toy for DD.  So far all I've gotten for her are some books and an outfit.  I feel like a serious mommy-failure.

    ::sigh:: Fail.Fail.Fail. Crying
