NBR: OSU players suspended...
I'm sure some of you won't care about this but this totally ruins the next several weeks for me. 6 of Ohio States football players have been suspended for the first 5 games of next season for taking discounts as well as selling gifts from the university, championship rings, etc. I'm so disappointed in them, I get they're young, but seriously how stupid can you be. Luckily they'll all get to play in the bowl game, but knowing our coach he'll probably sit them for the bowl game on the 4th.

i get your disappointment, my fil is a basketball coach & has spent his life doing anything & everything for his players. if his players did something that stupid he'd be really upset with them, too. at least your OSU players did something fairly innocent.
check out the scandal that happened at a college close to me last year...who knew making up fake academic credits & selling crack would get your team in trouble??

And Cam Newton is still innocent?? I just don't understand how it's ok for his Dad to sell him.... that sounds so much worst than this situation!!!
OP, The first 4 or 5 games of the season are usually the easier ones so if anything, OSU will probably pull through. Just focus on their awesome basketball team for now
Losing them during the first 4-5 games of next season my ruin OSU's chances of making it to the championship. If I was them, I would check my pro status and try to bow out gracefully now. Look at the bright side, at least the entire team was not penalized!
As for Cam Newton, am I the only one that believes he is innocent?
Well 2 of the players will probably now make the their draft decision because of this, though they originally decided to stay and play another year. It just sucks because one happens to be the QB and unfortunately our team tends to play based on how well the QB is playing. Hopefully we can hang in their...it's stupid mistakes.

Yes, it is true - Cam is the best college football player money can buy!
But seriously, his dad (and you know Cam knew what was going on) can pimp out his son and nobody gets in trouble, but these kids do some stupid stuff (and to me selling rings and university gifts is stupid, not illegal - it is their stuff after all) and they get reamed for it! Crazy stupid.
Mississippi State offered his father money, but he didnt end up playing there. No money changed hands at Auburn, so I don't see how he is "bought." BTW, his dad was the guilty one and did get in trouble. He was banned from all NCAA events.
How is one thing worse than the other? Wrong is wrong. I dont care how much worse one thing or another was, both parties knew what they were doing was wrong so they shouldnt have done it in the first place.

NCAA rules suck period. They only care about money, not the character or integrity of their players and ethics. If they did, they would've suspended Cam for more games (regardless of him "not knowing" about things), including the SEC championship game. OSU players would also be suspended from the bowl game versus next season. $$$$$$$$ is the only reason they are all still playing. No one is going to pay big money to see TCU in the championship game instead of Bama.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you are a talented player or not, which yes Cam is a great player.
How in the #@$% does Dez Bryant get ineligible for a WHOLE season b/c he LIED about a lunch with Deon Sanders. Lunch with Deon wasn't an infraction, but b/c he LIED about it (b/c he thought he might have broken the rules) he was suspended the ENTIRE season. BS!
The first 5 games on their schedule aren't too "cupcakey"...They have to get thru Miami, Michigan State and Colorado.
