How far would you drive for a sandwich?

I don't have a lot of food cravings, but I woke up craving Schlotzky's. There isn't one anywhere near me, so I would have to drive 45 to get one. I am trying to justify an hour and half in the car for a sandwich, but they are SO GOOD. lol.

    Hmm, tough one!  I could justify an hour (and have in the past) for food you're craving, but an hour and half?

    What else do you have to do today?  If nothing, might as well go for it.  Do you have someone to drive with you?  Is there something else you could do in the area once you get there?

    I would rationalize it by making some other stop in the vicinity of the restaraunt.. like, say to get another gift.

    It depends on how bad I want it! 45 isn't THAT far... hahahaha, but I would probably make the drive! I have this sick disorder, when I want something and get it in my mind I am getting it, I HAVE to get it... Smile be safe!

    This is very tough!!  I say, GO FOR IT!!!!!  I agree with pp.  Is there something else you could do in that area??  Let us know what you decide!!

    I have never heard of the place before so you have to tell me what is in this sandwich that is so special :) If I wanted something that bad I would more than likely make the drive and run some errands on the way.

    oh wow. we used to have one of these and I had forgotten all about them! Now I want one too!! They use square bread (or they used to) YUM!! I would consider driving if someone could go with me, depending on all the Christmas traffic.

    I'd totally do it!!! But I take 4 hour (round trip) drives all the time, basically every weekend. I drove 1.5 ONE WAY to have wings with my mom last Fri. 

    I totally need to see a pic of this sandwich now though :P

    For those of you who don't know, they have this insanely good bread, it is sourdough, but not very sour. It is super airy and buttery and they melt cheese into the air bubbles in the bread, then top it with meat and I am assuming toast it because they are hot. Plus they have this amazing dressing that they put on it and it is just amazing.

    OK that looks delicious and I would totally make the drive lol..I do have a question that I've been meaning to ask for a while, does toasting the sandwich make the meat hot enough to kill listeria? I thought it had to be heated to at least 175? It just seems like Subway for example they just run it through their oven real quick (like 10 seconds) that doesn't seem good enough to heat it...anyone know?

    Oh man, I miss Schlotzky's.  Ours closed like 10 years ago.  I would totally drive 45 minutes for that deliciousness.

    I have looooved Schlotzsky's my entire life - I so would drive. We have one 15 min away - so you can bet your booty I'll be getting one in the next day or two - thanks for planting the cravings seed!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    I am CRACKING UP at this post because I had the SAME craving recently (and with my first pregnancy) - luckily I had to go to a meeting for workand there was a Schlotzky's nearby, but now you are making me want to hop in the car and go get some, too!!!  I get the Chipotle Chicken on jalapeno cheese bread.... Mmmmmmmmm.
