Two Under 2

what do you do all day to give both attention?

I'm finding it hard all of a sudden now that we're stuck inside since it's cold to spend time working on things with both kids. I always feel like i'm ignoring one so I can do something with the other. I have a 10 mo. old & 2.5 yr. old. I feel like I always use the TV to keep him busy so I can work with her, but when I spend time on him, it's like i'm turning my back to the baby.

  • I give them attention together, and when one is asleep while the other is awake that one gets alone tiime. DS loves to be with his sister, so they are fine playing with me together.

I try not to sweat it and feel guilty, I know I am doing the best I can.

  • as PP said when they are awake I play with them together.  Also my two year old is a good independent player for bout 20 minutes at a time, so I can get her started on something and then play with the baby near by.  My LO is crawling now, so she loves to move around pull up on things, she will spend a good ten minutes cruising around the couch so I can help DD1 with an art project or a game. I really luck out because DD2 takes two naps a day, and DD1 takes one nap, so they get independent time then too.  I also don't have "high needs" kids, they like to play by themselves sometimes, so I guess that makes it easier.

  • I have cloned myself! LOL!

Seriously, you just CAN'T give both attention all the time. You do the best that you can.
