Is this normal?

I can feel Baby A moving a lot more then Baby B.  Baby A is down close to my cervix, vertical and Baby B is higher laying long ways.  Maybe because A is in a smaller space I feel it more?  Anyone else experience this?  I called the nurse this morning, just waiting for her to call back.

Re: Is this normal?

  • I thought this when I was pregnant as well and when I mentioned it to my doctor, he said that what I thought was A was actually B. They move around so much that it is really hard to know.  I bet they are both moving around just fine. It never hurts to mention it though because there is always a special case, but it's likely fine.

  • When I first started feeling movement, it was almost always Baby A (or so I thought).  I think now that I always thought it was A because of where I was feeling the kicks - now I know that at that point Baby B was up high with his head towards my left side and his feet extended out so I was feeling the kicks more on Baby A's "side".  Now that they are bigger I feel both babies a ton, especially Baby B.

More than likely, everything is fine, but ask your doctor just in case.

  • I always felt A more than B.  Always.  On u/s A was always more active than B.  I told everyone this is how they were going to act.  No one believed me.

Well true to form.....in the outside world baby A is our daughter and super high maintenance (happy....sad...happy.....sad).  Baby B is our son and sooooo laid back.  He's our chill kid and nothing ever bothers him.

So whether it's positioning in utero or their personalities......my babies in utero and ex utero act the same!

Try not to worry too much.  Having moms note fetal movement in twins is almost worthless and only adds undue anxiety.

  • I can't ever tell which baby is moving. Since they've been kicking more the last week or two, I can feel a low kick and a high kick, but still have no clue if its just one in a different position or what. My OB said I'd be able to tell once their personalities developed lol, we'll see

  • During the early part of the pg, I would watch them move on u/s and not feel a thing and like pp said, often what I thought was one baby actually was the other baby.

Once I got bigger and had a better sense of who was moving, Baby B moved way more than Baby A. I would get nervous that I hadn't felt Baby A in a long time, so I would prod Baby B to wake up and then she would move and wake Baby A. During monitoring, they would have to take Baby B's monitor off to watch Baby A and would comment that B was overshadowing A. Now that they are here, I see it in there personalities! Baby B is very active and always on the go. Baby A is content to sit quietly and play with a book and is a better sleeper. So....to make my long story short, there are lots of reasons why you may feel one more than the other. Definitely ask your doctor about it for your own peace of mind, but chances are everything's fine, especially this early on!
