Infertility

I'm sorry I've been MIA, but I have a question (kinda long)

Hi, girls. I'm sorry I've been MIA lately. I've been lurking, but I've been feeling the pain of IF pretty heavily lately, so it's been difficult for me to jump in and post to cheer everyone on, or offer consolation to those who need it. (Believe me, I've been thinking of all of you and cheering you on from the sidelines, though.)

We're not really sure the direction we're heading in right now, but I am thinking about going back to the accupuncturist. I have been to 3 different ones (2 before I moved and 1 since I moved). I was not very happy with the one that I went to see since I've moved. She didn't seem particularly knowledgeable and I was never able to completely relax like I used to before changing practices.

A co-worker gave me a name of an accupuncturist and her card. She does not have a website and her card does not state whether she does accupuncture for infertility. How do I ask this question in order to gauge whether she will be helpful to me or whether I should keep looking? Any thoughts?

    miss you

    i found my acu through an acu website and called several and asked whether they had experience with infertility and ultimately went with someone who gave me a good feeling over the phone.

    i would just call and ask.

    Thanks, worms. I've been thinking about you, hun, and sending tons of T&P your way. You've been through too much and it just isn't fair.

  • Missred!!

    I'm so sorry you're having a tough time right now. I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were.

    To answer your question, I would call and just make sure not to ask any yes or no questions. I feel like people will just answer the way they think you want them to in order to get your business. I would ask something like, how often do you deal with IF patients, or what areas do you specialize in. Something along those lines.

    Thinking of you and sending hugs!

  • I would call and ask too, and ditto worms, miss you as well.

    But I know that posting breaks are necessary, and silent support is still support.

  • So good to "see" you.  I'm sorry you've been hurting {{hugs}}

    The PPs all have great advice.  Asking an open-ended question like "how have you treated IF patients in the past?"  Seems like a good way to ensure they know what they are talking about.

    Hang in there.

  • I just wanted to say hi missred!!  I'm so sorry you are feeling the pain of IF right now.  IF just sucks.  I don't have any advice on acupuncture I tried it once and wasn't thrilled with it.  Hopefully you are able to find a great acupuncturist that is knowledgable in IF.

    Thinking of you!
