Hawaii Babies

?? for PSE users

Now that I'm starting to work on the nursery and have more bump pics under my belt, I was trying to take a stab at making a collage of pictures or even side by side pictures for my blog and such (like "before and afters" or my bump progressing week by week).  Does this question even make any sense??

I have noticed a couple nesties/bumpies here have done this and curious how you did this.  Was this something you did on Photoshop or just plain ol' Picknik?  I currently have Photoshop Elements 8 and I'm really dumb on this (still learning how to use this program).

This may be a stupid question I'm asking and be something so simple, but I'm totally clueless ;)

  • You can easily do it in elements.  There's probably a way to do it in Picnik, but I don't know what it is :)

Do you have a book on Elements?  I have one if you need.

  • I think I have this one....but obviously I haven't explored it enough to realize this can really be a feature ;)

Would I find out how to do that in this book?

  • It should.  I think all you're looking to do is to create an image of side by side pictures?

You would open a new blank file in elements and name it whatever, lets just call is BUMP, then open the pics you want to use. Go to each pic file, double click on the layer (in the layer tool bar to the right), then select "duplicate layer". A pop up window should come, then select "BUMP" under the Destination :: Document (drop down)

Do that w/ every separate file until you have all pics in one file.  Then just move everything around until you have the layout you want. Then save as a .jpeg and upload to wherever your photos are hosted.

The book will help a lot, elements is a really easy program to work with, you can waste a lot of time trying to figure it out on your own :)   You need to just get an understanding of how layers work, and how to select different layers, once you have that down, everything else is secondary.

  • You are too good! :)  I will fiddle with that tonight.  I really need to master elements.  I get frustrated real quick when I want to do a photo edit so I really haven't used it lately.

Thanks girl for the help, I will try and sit down and fiddle with this tonight Big Smile

  • I use Picasa to make collages.
  • I have used Picasa, Photo Bucket and Flickr (FD flickr toys, bighugelabs.com) to make collages. :)

  • I personally used Photoshop for mine just cuz I already have PS, but I'm sure you can do it using other applications/software (which would be cheaper too).
