3rd Trimester

Anyone on weeklys told they can't fit you in?

I found this odd, and wanted to punch the receptionist.  She was just the lady who fills in for the other one who was on lunch. I went in for my 39 week appointment and my ob wanted to see me early next week.

She told me "oh we are all booked up next week, sorry." umm...okay.

  • When I switched to weekly visits they made me book them all at once so that didn't happen.  Can you get on some kind of cancellation list in case they have an opening?

This is what my doctor's office will do as well, any time I've had to do two week appointments (at the very beginning and currently) I had to schedule a full month's worth at once and this is what they'll do with weeklies as well.

  • I'd call and let your OB know. They may be able to reschedule a lower priority patient to fit you in if she thinks it's really important to see you in a week.

  • I go 2x a week (since about 20w) and I have never had a problem scheduling my appointments.  They always get me in.

  • It has never ever been a problem until today. They had me book the last four at once, and apparently didn't feel I'd still be there at this point (umm why not? I'm only 39 weeks?). They really irritated me today. I mean seriously... its the DOCTOR who wants to see me every week, not me that wants to come in.

I'm calling back tomorrow when the normal girl is there.

  • You would think they would leave a few slots open for emergencies!

  • I was told last month that I would be on bi-weekly appoinments by now, but the resident I saw last week told me that they wanted me back in 4 weeks. Then I asked why I was not at bi-weekly, and she said because they do not see people that early. I was like " I will be 36 weeks in 4 weeks" then she said that because of the holiday and BEING high risk, the high risk clinic is only open one day in 2 week point. I also told her that I was having contractions already and she then checked me and said I am already dilating! So why the heck would they not try to get me in then?

  • I belong to a big group practice, so when it comes time for the weeklys, someone is always able to see you. At least that's how it was with DS. And I was usually able to get my 2 favorite Drs. I know friends who book their weeklys a month in advance, so there wouldn't be scheduling conflicts.
