Two Under 2

please tell me what your schedule is like...

Im very new to having 2u2 and i havent quite adjusted yet; Im finding it very hard to cope with. I know that LO#2 wont really be able to be on a "schedule" being that he's not even a month old but i was wondering what your day was like. It seems that DS#2 is completely messing up DS#1's schedule. DS#1 would always go to bed around 9pm and wake up at 9am and take a good 1-2 hour nap during the day, well now my poor baby isnt getting anymore than 8 hours of sleep at night bc DS#2 wakes him up all day and night. DS#1 seems to be sleeping less, eating less and whining/crying more. Im at a loss here...im just very upset b/c i feel bad for DS#1 - this just doesnt seem fair to him.

  • Do you have a white noise machine in ds1s room? Get one and crank it. This is critical. Also if ds1 is sleeping, I dont let ds2 make a peep hardly. I hop to it right away and keep him from crying. But yeah the white noise machine-we have 3 in this house. They are priceless.

  • Ds1 wil go to bed between 830 9 and sleep til 8. Then he will take a nap between 1 & 2 and nap for hour or two. Now when ds 2 was born I made sure DS 1 schedule stayed the same regardless of a new baby being in the house. It has def worked. My day consist of waking up around 7 to feed ds 2 he will go back to sleep and I might fall back to sleep until ds 1 wakes up. I will get him up feed him and take a shower. Then I will get ds 2 fed and dressed and at this point I would run errands. Then be home for nap time. When ds 1 takes nap or sleeps I have a radio on for him and also I have a sound machine in our room for ds 2. You will get a pattern down and they will get on it.

  • YES - white noise. Once #2 gets on a bit of a better schedule...he'll be taking three naps a day - and you can time it so that the middle nap is at the same time (or right around the time) as your DS#1...so it feels easy then!

Don't use a radio - that's a stimulant....use white noise. We have a white noise machine in both of their rooms and a big loud fan in the hallway going all the time.

I'd do whatever you can to make sure everyone is getting as much sleep at possible. Everyone will be MUCH happier.

  • Get sounds machines...like tomorrow morning...for both of their rooms, and turn them up full blast. You will be saved, trust me!
