Two Under 2

Hello again

So, technically I don't have 2u2 anymore, and I'll just miss 3u3 by two months!  We were not trying, but this third baby is very much wanted.  I am freaked out so far because the 2u2 thing was extremely difficult for us (#2 very high maintenance).  Lots to think about - bigger apartment, bigger car (can't fit three car seats), one of us may need to stay home.

For those of you with three (or more) close in age, how was the transition from 2 to 3?  Any things you've learned along the way?

Re: Hello again

  • No advice on 3 since we skipped that and went straight to 4 almost under 3 ;) But, I can tell you that the transition the second time around was much smoother. My first two were a little pair that entertained themselves endlessly if I was busy with my twins. It helped that they were both girls and so close in age.

Oh, and my #2 is Bridget too! You don't hear that name very often!

  • For us the transition from two-three wasn't a "big deal", but I am a very organized and routine person.  I know a few people that thought 2-3 was harder than 1-2...  We did have to move to a minivan, but I will tell you it's the best thing that ever happened (I can't believe I just said that) automatic doors are a lifesaver.  We have an au pair to keep our childcare expenses down (17k per year, all they need is a room of their own).  I've also learned that not everything I want to do gets done that day, but it will get done, eventually.  Eventually everyone will need you at the same time, but just deal with it one child at a time, they know you love them :)
