Toddlers: 24 Months+

Share funny things your toddler says!

Let's share some funny things our little ones have said lately! : )

I have two:

1.)

Me "We need to brush your teeth."

DS "No!"

Me: "Quentin...do you want happy teeth, or do you want a visit from the big mean drill?"

DS: "Big mean drill!"

2.)

DS "Mommy...make me a new train."

Me: "Did you break the track?"

DS: "Yes. It was broke 20 hours ago!!"

20 hours ago? Where does he come up with this stuff? LOL

  • Kids are hilarious. Here's Lily's latest:

Me: "What do you want to ask Santa to bring you for Christmas?"

    Lily: "Presents!"

Me: "What do you want in your presents?"

    Lily: "Snowflakes."

Annnnnnd we live in the desert. :)

  • Thanks for posting this.... I need some smiles and laughs today!

Yesterday DS was making a card for a friend with a pack of stickers I gave him. Everytime he found a heart sticker he came running to me with open arms and said "Mama, hearts mean love!" and he would give me a big hug. He did this a dozen or so times. I loved every hug!

And just now I was exclaiming that I love my new slippers (that I got a as a gift from MIL this weekend). DS looked at them and said "Yeah, those are cute".

    Love this age!!! :~)

  • 2 funny things come to mind:

I sang a funny song once while he brushed his teeth and now he takes his toothbrush and sings "brush out the dirt, brush out the stink". Kills me- haha.

He also says "look at the beautiful christmas tree" after we had said that a few times. Yesterday he floored me by saying "where are you beautiful mommy?". I almost cried but then wondered what he was up to. :)

This is a great age since he is getting so conversational.

  • My daughter calls the microwave, the mic-in-a-wave!  She wants to put everything in it.

She tells me she has a baby in her belly.

She has some funny ones but I just can't think of them right now.  Kids come up with the funniest stuff.  I love this age.

    Oh, just thought of one!

DD:  "Trick-or-Treat, Smell my feet, give me boogers to eat.  If you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your striped underwear.  I will put Barbie sauce (BBQ sauce) on them and eat them!"

She keeps adding different stuff each time she says it.  I don't know where she learned this.

  • yesterday morning:

Me:  What do you want Santa to bring you?

    Ella:  Baa Baa Black Sheep!

    me:  Anything else?

    E:  Coffee!

    Okay!

She keeps saying "Happy Cake!" instead of Happy Birthday (we both just had birthdays)  And - re Christmas, she'll say Merry christmas and then "Trick or Treat" hahahahahahahahah

Last night, when I came home, her and DH were playing in the basement and hiding from me underneath the flipped over kiddie pool (that we use as a ball pit sometimes).  We played hidding from mommy for awhile, but then I started poking aroudn on top of the pool and touched her head through the pool.  DD got quite indignant - stood up and looked at me and said "Stop it Mommy!"

  • DS is always telling me I did a 'great job' with things. He will just be playing and out of the blue say, "You did a great job with the Christmas tree, mommy!"

ETA: Last night he was in bed and his musical sunshine thing turned off. He called me to tell me it turned off and I told him that was because it went to sleep and it was time for him to sleep too. He replied, "Oh, I don't believe this!"

  • She just transitioned to a new classroom and I think the teacher tells the kids to relax and calm down.... yeah, mommy got told to "relax" the other day.

My all time favorite, driving past Dunkin Donuts and she says, "Ma, I want coffee"

  • She is obsessed with Barney, but when she sings his theme song, she goes, "I love you, I love me..."

First thing when she wakes up, she always says what she wants to eat. Yesterday, she woke up and said, "Mommy, rice."

When we are traveling and her schedule is all off, she will wake up in the middle of the night and ask for mac n cheese or chocolate milk. Sigh...

    :)

  • hahaha love reading these! I can't believe some of the things kids come up with.

"Colt, do you want to go see Santa again?"
    "no, that's weird!"
haha umm, yes I guess it is weird to sit on a strangers lap, but how do you know that?!

"mommy, can you carry mine cars? I am not happy mommy, I need you carry mine cars"

he also told me he has a baby in his belly today too.

he cracks me up every single day with the things he says...

  • Mine likes to have her back and arm rubbed before bed. Well the other night I started to rub her arm and she looked at me and said Aurora's arm don't touch it it's broken.  She also now rubs her belly and tells people she has a baby sister in there. She is getting a little brother and doesnt like it very much.
  • Ben's new thing is when I get upset, he says, "don't worry momma, you'll help you."

When I give him a choice of choosing something, he'll scratch his cheek and say, hmmm hmmm. It's so cute.

  • The funniest thing he does is when I try to get him to do something like eat I will say

    "Are you a big boy?"

And he goes "No, I a big GIRL".  BUahahahaha, so I will correct him and say "No sweetie you are a big boy like daddy".  He will then put his head down slightly shake his head and say "No I big girl".

The other day the dog was sitting next to the fire place on the little hearth thing, and T went over to her and said (With the funniest concerned face) "That's Really hot bambi" he repeated it a few times before I said "It's ok sweetie".

He's is obsessed with any kind of car, and he will play for hours on the couch with them making car sounds.  The best part is when you hear him go "Eeeeeeeerrt" then say "Crash and Burn".

  • dh: matt and robin are coming to visit us. robin is matt's wife just like mommy is my wife.

    ds: grandma is my wife.

  • She was playing in her play kitchen and i said

    "what are you making?"

    her:  "muffins for my honey"

    me: "who's your honey"

    her:  "daddy"

  • Everything she talks about that has happened prior to today is referred to as "last morning", instead of yesterday or last night.

her:  mama, can i have some chicken like we had last morning?

she often times likes to tell her father and/or i that we are fired when we forget to do something.

her:  daddy, you forgot my lunch today.  you fired!

she's been on a kick lately of saying congratulations for everything.

her:  mama, congratulations on making dinner.

  • Yesterday I was going to take DD's last yobaby yogurt to work (since she NEVER eats it and I ate the rest of the pack anyways). She walked to the kitchen and saw the yogurt sitting with my stuff and said "No take my yogurt to work mommy, I spank your butt!" And we don't even spank!
  • Out of the blue a little while ago, DD started calling DH "Daddy-Boy"...I'd really like to know where she got that from!

  • Every morning for the past 2 weeks: "Eees Christmas Eve???" Me: "No, honey." Then again, perhaps more hopefully, "Eees Christmas Day????"

We have talked about the paci fairy coming to take away her "baba" and give it to babies who need them and leaving a big present. Me: "Emily, what do you hope the baba fairy brings you?" Every single time, without fail, "A hippo. A big one. Soft and gray." LOL - where do they come up w/ this stuff?? I finally found a huge hippo plush puppet at this shop on Fisherman's Wharf...Hope it's sufficiently exciting for her.

We drop DH off at the train every morning early, go back home and meet the nanny, then I go to work. We were doing backup babysitters for a while until we hired a new nanny, so DD had 3 caretakers plus my mom on occasion. She generally rolls w/ it, but I guess it got a bit confusing...we dropped DH off one mornning and she said, "Dada goes on the train. He goes to work. But Dada ALWAYS comes back." Then she sat thoughtfully for a few seconds and then said, "Mama, who's watching me over today?" It took me a minute to figure out she was saying "who's watching over me today..."

  • Cute thread.

One of the new cute things that DS has been doing is he will laugh about something.  Then do a big sigh afterwards and say "oohhh funny"  It's adorable.

Also we are repainting all the rooms in my house and they are being primed.  So he spends most of his day walking around saying "white walls" I think it's freaking him out a bit that all the color is gone.

  • Luv this!!

DS is obsessed with farts lately. We were at the target dollar aisle (you can imagine how many people where around the dollar @ Christmas time) My shoe made the "fart noise" as I was bending over to the bottom shelf.

DS: mommy tarted!!!!!!! I could have melted into the floor. Maybe noone knew what Tarted meant?!?

Every time we are driving past a fast food restaurant he yells out the name. Tacto Bell Mama, Wendys Mama, Donalds Mama!! Which is fun unless your mother in law is in the car who makes everything from scratch!!

  • He's obsessed with throwing things in the kitchen sink. He'll take a sippy or snack bowl he's done with, declare "That's dirty!" and tell me "in the sink".

He praises himself, most often when he puts something in the trash, whether he's asked to do so or not. He'll toss the trash in, then say "Thank You! Good job!".

He's also loving snowflakes right now - "Frayfrakes"

  • Love this thread!

One of my favorite things DS says right now is "mmmm, this is delicious, Mama" with as much enthusiasm as he can muster when he likes something he's eating.

  • Tonight as my DD was finishing up her dinner she says

"see you mommy, back to business"

I have no idea where she got that.

She has a ritual every night at bedtime where she will hand me her books after we've read them to put away and she tells me "this is a birthday party".  Then she gives her lamp a kiss and says "I love you light", then looks out the window and says "night, night".  Only then can I put her in bed!

  • The other day she patted my pregnant belly and says, "I give baby brother high five."

We work with teenagers at church and she always says, "Mommy, I go see my big friends."

She's also been telling me lately, "Mommy, I so proud of you!"

Haha!  I don't know where she gets this stuff.

  • DD calls oatmeal "opium". Seriously, I have no idea how she decided on that, but that's exactly what it sounds like when she says it..no matter how much I try to get her to say it right!

Tonight DH cut DD a HUGE piece of chocolate cake.... DD looked at it and said "Daddy, that's too big. You need to put it in the microwave to make it smaller"

  • Tonight, DH was talking about "catching the bus" in the morning.

DS said "we don't catch buses, we catch balls."

    So true.

  • cute thread!

I was sitting in DD's rocking chair last night. Her new thing is to sit beside me in it instead of in my lap. Last night, she patted beside me and said, "excuse me, little one" as she went to sit down. When I laughed she patted my knee and said, "you ok, mommy".

Walking through Target today and her brother reached out for her milk cup. I told her to tell him "No, no Jakie" b/c he can't drink milk. she yells loudly, "HE DRINKS BREAST MILK!" Of course, we were right beside some young guy who gave me a weird look.

  • Kendall is convinced all babies are named Kendall. She has named all her baby dolls this. On the odd occasion, she thinks other children are also called Kendall.

     More Kendallisms:

    "Boobies funny"

    "Mommy, I fart"

  • DS is obsessed with Toy Story. The other day we were driving in the car and he stopped drinking his milk, said "barbie shoes," giggled and then went back to drinking his milk. He's done the same thing a few times now and he's referring to the funny part in Toy Story 3 where Barbie goes to get Buzz's instruction manual from the worm pretending to be Ken, only you can see her high heels as she walks away." It's almost like he's cracking himself up.

  • A few weeks ago DH had a stomach virus and he ran to the bathroom to puke.  I yelled down the hall and said "Chris, are you OK?" , and he said "I think so."  Every since then, if DH goes to the bathroom this is what happens:

DD: "Chris, are you OK?" (this is the only time she does not call him Daddy)

Chris: "Yes, Kayla.  Are you OK?

    DD: "I think so"

Kayla also likes to point out when someone passes gas.  We were at Target the other day and DH passed gas, she looked at him and said "Ugh, Daddy farted.  That's nasty."  Of course someone was walking by us and got a good laugh out of that.

  • DD love Dora. She told me the other day that Dora was her favorite color. I said Dora isn't a color & she said, but she's my favorite.

She also told me that Ms. Karen (her daycare teacher) is her favorite color too. lol I don't think she understands what a color is just yet.
