Some questions re: 12 months old

Our son just had his 12 month appt today. Everything went well, but I do have some questions for the parents of other 12 monther's out there.

His stats were 23 lbs, 31 inches today. He gained 1 lb and 1 inch since 9 months. He has definitely slowed down this time around. What did your LO's stats look like at 12 months compared to their 9 months?

We are finishing up the formula we have and then transferring him to whole milk with vitamin D...probably next week some time. Currently, when we are out and about I will take powdered formula and a bottle of water to feed him while we are away. How do you guys handle feedings while out when it is regular milk and not powder that can be mixed??  He will still be on bottles for quite some time since he isn't a big eater, mainly gets his nutrition from the formula soon to be milk. I am not sure how to handle the bottles when we are away from home and a fridge.

Thank you all who read all of that and for anyone that can share their experiences. I didn't get much from the doctor today so I decided to turn to the experts!!

Re: Some questions re: 12 months old

  • I think it's pretty common for growth to slow around 12 months, but, ask your pedi if you are concerned.  Most kids will more or less stay on their growth curve as a general trend, but it will vary somewhat.

With bottles (we did expressed milk so it had to stay cold) we just took them in a cooler with us.  We have a smaller portable soft cooler.  We also use that for his whole milk if we're gone a long time.  If we're only gone an hour or so, I'll just bring water!

  • When I looked back, they had a weight gain of 2.5 lbs and grew 2.5 inches from their 9mo-12. We never mixed in the formula with the milk. Pedi said it was okay to just change over to milk. We had no issues. It is completely normal for their weight to slow down.
  • You could do toddler formula (we use Enfagrow) for when you're out.

    This is what we do!

Not that we go out anymore, lol!!
