What Else Do I Need for 2U1?

Baby girl will be born about a week before DS's 1st Birthday.  I don't think I need MUCH but want to make sure I have everything.  Here's what's on my list... anything else to add (aside from clothes)?

Re: What Else Do I Need for 2U1?

  • a second crib, I wanted new swaddling blanket and burp cloths/bibs - since those got kinda yucky, I wanted a new coming home outfit, a new pacifier (if you plan to use one), new nipples, sippy cups for the older one (we were getting rid of bottles at a year), LOTS of advil LOL

I really did not NEED much, more stuff that I WANTED

  • Let's see. I got: another car seat, another set of breathable bumpers, some Aden & anias swaddle blankets, another baby book, more newborn pacis, child gates to block off family room so I wouldn't have to chase ds1 while I nursed, another crib, mattress, and mattress protector, more of those gerber cloth diapers that I use for burp rags, more sippys for ds1, big baby bath soap and lotion with pumps on top from target, lots of wipes, nightlight for nighttime feedings, extra wipes dispenser boxes for all over the house, a bunch of new clothes for me because I did not want to wear maternity a single day after giving birth.

    And COFFEE.

haha for me it was cans of coke in case I needed a pick me up (I hate coffee).

I dont have 2 u 1, but another sound machine was necessary.

  • I got "journals" for each kid, not so much for momentous occasions but when I fed/changed them last!  It sounds so silly but when you are exhausted you don't remember who ate what and when!  I still use them as communication between me and the nanny, I never remember to ask all the questions I need when I get home and I don't like to interrupt her personal time unless it's important.  It's good for keeping track of vitamins and meds too!  I agree with the PP's recommendations on the rest of the stuff, GL!

  • Second crib.  I wanted to be able to know exactly where #1 was and that she wasn't getting into anything while I thought she was sleeping!

I also got sound machines for each child to filter noise (especially when DS was a newborn) and a cool mist humidifier for each bedroom.

I loved the changing-table size waterproof pads; they make great changing spots when you're chasing two LOs.

  • What everyone else already mentioned, plus a carrier so you can wear baby #2. I think that would be essential so you can hold LO #2 while playing with LO #1.
