Waking up screaming?

So for the last week, sporadically, DD will wake up in the middle of the night screaming bloody murder. We are doing Ferber, so if I hear a normal cry I will let her cry for 20 minutes before I go in and get her, but last night and two nights before, she woke up just screaming. Is she having nightmares? What's going on? Last night, she did it so I went in and picked her up since she was screaming and she stopped right away, but wouldn't go back down to sleep. She was awake from 3 to 6!! I wanted to scream myself at the end of it. Anyone experience something like this? She's 11 months, and she is teething some, but I've given her tylonel before bed and most of the other nights she goes right back to sleep easily and quietly never having screamed.

DD has been doing the same thing but during nap. It is a TOTALLY different scream! I go in and her face is bright red and she has HUGE tears and her eyes are about the size of half dollars! The first day she clutched my shirt and held on for dear life. She has been letting us hold and rock her for about 20 minutes....TOTALLY NOT HER! I thought nightmares too. Someone said they are too young and that it is night terrors. If she doesn't stop I will be calling her pedi. She is doing it 3-4 times a week! She did it the other night in bed and I went in and she was on all fours like she was disoriented. I laid her down calming her and gave her the paci and bear and she was fine, but it was kind of freaky to see her disoriented. So I am not help but you are not alone!
BTW - DD is getting her molars and eye tooth right now...who knows - could be teething!
