Hey ladies,
Recently C has taken to sleeping from about 10-7, which is great (if it lasts)... and I've been waking up around 3-4 (the time she used to wake up to eat) to pump... I've been seriously considering dropping the pumping session to get more sleep, but am afraid it'll jeapordize my milk supply...
Any advice on this from moms that are EBFing?
Re: STTN and Milk Supply
I'll be going back to class (working on my Masters/being a SAHM) in January, so I'll need to leave several times a week. But I was also thinking that I would be able to pump in place of that feeding as well.
I guess I'm also curious to know how much extra store other moms are accumulating before they stop pumping at night... For example I have about 50-60oz stashed in the freezer right now...
I have probably a two week DC stash in my deep freeze (approx.120 oz)... but I will never stop pumping at night because I am obessive-compulsive BF mom and want E to have BM for as long as I possibly stretch it out, espeically since I have seen how her belly reacts to formula. I am lucky to pump enough at work to make the difference of what E ate at DC that day, also, so that night time pump is essential.
Since you will only be gone a few days a week, then I would think 50-60 oz would be a good start.
I don't pump at night anymore, but my baby is a little older than yours. At 6 weeks, I was still nursing in the middle of the night.
I would try to keep it up a couple more weeks until your milk supply get established and then drop it.
Thanks ladies!
I will prob continue to get up during the night until she hits about 3-4 months, that way I can build up a nice store and will feel more comfortable when handling future growth spurts... Just needed to hear that other moms were waking up even when LO wasn't! I kinda felt crazy there for a little bit.
So what do you end up doing when she doesn't want to nurse? Solids? Bottle feed? How many ozs does she take a day now? Sorry for all the questions.
