We decided this weekend to make ornaments for the grandparents with Olivia's handprints....thought I'd share in case anyone needed a last minute gift idea.
We just dipped Olivia's hand in white paint, applied to the ornament, then I painted the snow at the bottom, accessories for the snowmen and her name and year on the back. Not the best picture, but you get the idea.
It was so, so easy. We even already had all of the stuff at the house to make them. My parents absolutely loved their ornament.
(I did clean up the lettering with my fingernail after I took this picture)
Re: easy DIY ornaments
CUTE! So the fingers are the individual snowmen, yes?
Cute idea. I've never taken advantage of tiny handprints for cute projects - I need to start doing that before she gets too big!
Yep, the fingers are the individual snowmen. Some are more defined than others, but I actually kind of like the blurry ones too.
I wish we would have done it last year too so that I could compare the two prints, but we may start making it an annual thing on either balls or small canvases.
Oh and confession, we waited until Olivia was asleep. She hates having her hands dirty, so I figured we'd fare better with a sleeping babe.
That's so brave to do while she's asleep......I hate even tip toeing in to see if Clark is asleep - haha!
I think they're just acrylic craft paints. I'm sure not the safest for children, but I literally had it on her hands for a minute before very thoroughly washing it off.
Maureen - she had gone to sleep on Jake's chest, so I figured I had a good opportunity
