Nephew Update
The past few days have been a whirlwind. Kayne was moved to another hospital on Sunday. This hospital is in Sacramento, and has the resources to deal with extensive pediatric burns.
Yesterday Kayne had surgery for skin grafts from his back to his legs. I'll spare you the details, but they removed a significant portion of skin to graft onto his legs. The doctors told my sister that the skin on his back will regenerate within 7 to 14 days. Apparently it will be far more painful on his back then his legs, so Kayne will be sedated for at least the next week and a half. After that they anticipate him being in the hospital for the next month. Once he is able to go home he will return to the hospital for monthly check-ups for the next two years. He may need additional skin grafts as he grows since the grafts will grow, but not as fast as he will.
In the grand scheme of things, he is doing well. Before his surgery he was eating string cheese, and acting like the happy little guy he normally is. My sister is hoping that they can be back home by his birthday in February.

Wow, poor little guy. I don't remember from your previous posts, how old is he?
Your sister must be a mess. I'm so sorry. I'll continue to pray for your family.
He is 22 months old. And yeah, my sister is a mess. She's not really eating, doesn't do anything but sit in the hospital. She blames herself, and feels such tremendous guilt. I don't think that anything is helping her, it's just going to be a matter of time.
