I *think* I know what a labor buddy is but would anyone care to further explain it to me? But it sounds like a good idea - I'm in! Anyone else due on/around April 2nd??
I suppose a bump buddy could, especially if she is due around the same time you are. But you can just make your own rule, I'm sure. I really don't know much about them..can anyone else fill in the ins and outs?
From what I understand the labor buddy is just someone on here that you give the heads up to when you are off to the hospital and they'll update the rest of the board. You could also give your labor buddy info about what's going on while you're in the hospital.
It might seem like it's early but when the time gets closer it's exciting to see posts about what's going on with everyone.

It might be wise to choose a labor buddy who isn't right near you due-date-wise, just in case you both go into labor at the same time (or are dealing with a super brand new baby when your buddy finally goes).

Kim - I'm the 7th. Is that too close?

Wait, I don't think I get it still. Maybe I'm just slow. So, you let your labor buddy know when you go to the hospital and keep them updated with things, and then they tell everyone else? How do you let them know? Call them? It seems like if you're letting them know over email or on the bump, then you could just as easily post something yourself. I must be missing something.
I'm due 4/29 if anyone wants to be buddies I like the idea of not being paired with someone too close to our due date just in case both go into labor at the same time

I think it's a good thing we're a few days away so we don't go into labor at the same time haha. Do we have a match?

I'm due on 4/6. We could be labor buddies if you'd like! I also like the idea of being further apart.

Nanna, I'm due April 8th, are we too close to be buddies?
I think we can make it work! I'm down if you're down!!

I had a group of BFPBs on the TTGP board, and it was great. We were able to share things/ask questions/vent about the TTC process when we didn't feel comfortable posting publicly. They were the first people (besides my husband) that I contacted when I got my BFP, and I consider them among my dearest friends.
I agree with Drea that it is good for labor buddies to be people who don't have EDDs too close together so that there's less of a chance of you going into labor at the same time.
I'm labor buddied up with Maniac McGee, whose EDD is 3 weeks after mine.
We've exchanged email addresses as well as cell #s (I've actually known her a while from the TTGP board, so I feel comfortable sharing this info already) and so when it comes time for one of us to head to L&D, the idea is we would text the other person, and they will start a thread to keep you all updated. If any other big baby-related 'happenings' were to occur that were keeping one of us away from a computer, the other would let you know about that as well. I expect we'll get to know each other even better over the next several months.
Having been through the BFPB thing, my advice is to choose someone from the board who you feel like you have something in common with, who you feel like you gel with, and who you trust to share personal info with, even if it is just an email address.
Re: Labor Buddies?
